Sometimes the dream isn’t possible yet.
That doesn’t mean the idea has to wait.
Jonathan dreamed about someday taking an old railroad caboose and turning it into a coffee shop.
Maybe years from now. Maybe never.
So instead of waiting, he created it another way.
That idea became Caboose Café.
And I love what he said next:
“When inspiration hits, sometimes it just kind of all comes together.”
That might be one of my favorite things about talking to creators.
Behind what looks like a simple design, video, song, photograph or project… there can be an entire dream hiding underneath it.

What if a LEGO design started as a real-life dream?
That’s exactly what happened with @jonoghost Caboose Café.
What started with a love for trains, a real caboose, and a dream of one day turning something like it into a coffee shop eventually became a BrickLink design. And that’s the part we don’t always see when we scroll through hundreds of submissions: the story, the memories, the inspiration, and the person behind the set.
Designer. Musician. Filmmaker. Audio engineer. Youth pastor. Train fanatic. Creator.
Meet the person behind the set.

Churro Corner

Welcome to Churro Corner , the sweetest stop in town! Grab a fresh churro, relax on the back patio rain or shine, or find a seat beneath the colorful awning out front and soak up the lively atmosphere.

The idea for this model started when I had the idea for a giant churro! From there, the concept grew into a vibrant little storefront inspired by the energy of downtown jazz scenes and the colorful character of the French Quarter . The result is a playful celebration of food, music, architecture, and of course, churros by @jonoghost

All Aboard The Bricklink Celebration Express!

Inspired by the tradition of commemorative rail journeys seen around the world, the Bricklink Celebration is a tribute to both railway heritage and the creative spirit of Lego and its rich history.

In this blend of real-world inspiration and fictional storytelling, Bricklink marks a milestone anniversary, celebrating over 25 years, by launching a cross-country steam excursion. This special train brings together a vibrant collection of classic Lego themes and beloved characters from across its history, all united in one unforgettable journey.

Along the route, each stop presents both joys and challenges. The Power Miner Mech clears debris from the tracks, making way for the locomotive as it races to catch the infamous Knilkcirb, the child of Ogel. Passengers can also catch glimpses of Johnny Thunder trailing the Bricklink Celebration, eager to offer archeological excursions on his personal handcar at each stop. The journey highlights the roots of building, creativity, and community, capturing the magic of Lego fans from every corner of the world.

Visually, while not based on a single locomotive, the train draws inspiration from streamlined passenger locomotives of the 1940s, showcasing elegance and timeless style brought to life for this special steam journey. The color palette tells Bricklink’s story, from where it is today to where it all began, starting with the bold Azure engine and ending with a caboose dressed in its classic original colors of blue and green. by @jonoghost

BDP (Bricklink Designer Program) is back on September 30th with Wave 1. So excited to be participating again! Here is one of my new submissions the Caboose Café! I hope you like it, let me know what you think below and check out all my submissions in the stories for an early reveal 🙌🏻

Description:

All aboard the Caboose Café!

The Caboose Café gives an old railroad caboose a whole new purpose, transforming it into a charming little café where minifigures can grab a bite, enjoy a drink, and watch the world roll by.

The idea behind Caboose Café was to combine two things I love: railroads and a good cup of coffee. Rather than letting an old caboose sit forgotten on a scrapyard, this one has been given a second life as the perfect neighborhood café! by @jonoghost
