In March last year, I sat down and decided I wanted to create a collection that had more substance to it than just cool designs. One with a bit more meaning and backstory behind it.

Japan was an easy starting point. Fell in love with the culture when I visited in 2023 and clearly haven’t been the only one. Every man and their dog seems to be heading there now, and with absolute reason.

I researched more into Japanese culture, and kept coming back to the idea of Wabi-Sabi (yes, before it became a TikTok meme). Wabi-Sabi is a traditional Japanese aesthetic focused on finding beauty in imperfection. It accepts and celebrates flaws, instead of trying to hide or erase them. A cool example of this is the Japanese art of Kintsugi - it’s where broken pottery, instead of being thrown in the bin, is repaired with gold. The cracks in the pottery aren’t hidden, they’re celebrated. The damage becomes the value.

This idea lead to developing the jacket showcased here. Its design features gold cracks running across the outer shell, inspired directly by Kintsugi.

It was pretty fkn special being able to take this jacket to the place it was inspired by, and making content like this. Pretty damn excited for this drop and the other pieces that are coming with it. taken in Japan by @jonokoh_
