Kristi York Wooten is a badass. She's written for the The New York Times and The Atlantic, covered world events for NPR and Rolling Stone, and now she has a banging music show called the Sweet Song Podcast that recently featured legends like Tears for Fears, Glenn Tilbrook, Branford Marsalis and Howard Jones. I'm proud to have written and recorded the new theme song for it. Check it out at @sweetsongpodcast @glenntilbrook @branfordmarsalis @thehowardjones @kristiyorkwooten @jonregen #podcast #composer @nytimes @theatlantic @npr @tearsforfearsmusic @rollingstone by @jonregen

OUT TODAY! "Eye of the Hurricane" from my upcoming album LIVE IN LONDON is out now. I talked to KMUW/NPR host Jedd Beaudoin about recording the album live at the EFG London Jazz Festival, my killer band of PJ Phillips, John Miller and Paul Booth, and how Paul McCartney once sat next to my piano at PizzaExpress Jazz Club and freaked me out! Read the feature and watch the video at the links in my bio. The album drops October 16. @jonregen @pjphillips777 @paulboothmusic @pizzaexpresslive @londonjazzfest @seplivecole @kmuw @nprmusic @jazzfmnigel @christianpaulbragg @paulmccartney @nick_m_pitts @sterlingsound @fallonesteven @donwas @jools.holland.official @jamiecullum @bellaconcerts @musicworksinternational @bnaturalnyc @annabeckernyc @tonyfant @briananyny @natesmith @jazzfmmk @sonicsoulreviews @frankalkyer @myquestt @frankbolder by @jonregen

Before the internet ruined our attention spans, a person could spend weeks or even months completely enraptured by a single album. That's certainly what happened to me in 1995, when Cassandra Wilson's "New Moon Daughter" lived on my Sony CD player for a year on repeat. I was lucky enough to tell her how much that album affected me a few years later, when I joined her, Van Morrison and Little Jimmy Scott on tour in Austria. Hearing of her passing at the age of 70 yesterday makes me remember the power of music, and what an otherworldly voice she shared with us all. Until we meet again. ❤️ @jonregen @reallycassandra #cassandrawilson #vanmorrison #wiesen #austria by @jonregen
