A little action on the CZ50 lathe made by Michael Chung @watchmakerlathe
I love any reason to get her going... And yes, she has a name. Maybel.

I had a broken setting lever in a vintage Omega 1012 and instead of sourcing a replacement from the outer reaches of the Mongolian plains, I decided to make what was missing. The setting lever push post.
I made the post out of stainless steel rod so I would forgo the hardening and tempering stage.
I just made sure it was a good friction fit, so made it 0.01 mm bigger than the hole in the setting lever.
It fitted with a staking tool an absolute treat!

Some of the talented weekend watchmaking students trying their hands at disassembling and assembling a watch movements, then lubricating and timing them.
I know the lift angle isn't set correctly.
It was an exercise in understanding that lengthening and shortening the hairspring adjusted the timing.

A real bit of watchmaking for the second year students who have just finished making their pallet stone warming tools ready for all the vintage pallet stones that need replacing in the Landeron 248 chronograph, which is the next module in the course.
Moving the pallet stone by 1/100th mm is now very achievable.
How they did this 200 years ago under candle light without a microscope blows my mind.

From an Italian Parmigiani Fleurier to a Swiss Omega and ending with a great British timepiece by JW Benson with the oldest Swiss ebauche company's movement inside, an FHF.
FHF have now been assimilated into the hive collective, which is ETA. Resistance is futile!
We are the Borg...

Ready for the new start of term in September for 20 first year students and a shipment from @becotechnic has recently arrived with Bergeon screwdrivers @bergeon.swiss and Regine Horlogery brass and carbon steel tweezers.

I'll be doing a review of the these tweezers in the near future and some of Becotechnic's own brand tweezers which are also exceptionally good.
I now use these brass tweezers most of the time in my own servicing work favouring these over Dumont

A little blueing for a set of chronograph hands for a Valjoux 23 to make them pop again.
The sub dial hands where originally gold plated which had to be removed first.
The last photo shows the minute and hour hand which needs the hour hand doing again.
Third time lucky me thinks.

Just off the bench... Iconic single pusher Lemania 15 CHTL (calibre 2210) needing a replacement balance staff and a lot of love and care to bring her back to the standard Lemania were well known for in the 1950's
The case back is marked HS9 with a pheon (broad arrow)
HS, denotes Hydrographic Services (procurement of timepieces, etc. for the navy)
9, denotes a chronograph watch.
Lemania originally produced the Omega 321 for Omega with their calibre CH27-C12

The first year students have just come to the end of the evening watchmaking course here at London Watchmaking School before becoming second years in September and had a little fettle at static and dynamic poising on their Omega 30T2 and a couple of other vintage movements.
Some good results were had!

A new wheelchair friendly workshop near Battersea Power Station with a new layout for even more eager weekend horologists and evening watchmaking students.
What more could you ask for in this sweltering heat?
Fortunately, the air-con kept the temperature at a reasonable level so as no sweaty movements to deal with.
Great bunch of guys!

Moving the workshop from Wimbledon Art Studios to Hewlett House, Havelock Terrace, SW8, which is a hop, skip and jump away from Battersea Power Station. Bigger and better...

The first year students got stuck into their ETA 7 jewel movements, whilst the second years became a little more confident with their first chronograph watches. The Valjoux 7733 is a great chronograph to start with.
