Okay, I was wrong (or the schedule changed). The season three finale of ELSBETH airs at our usual time, Thursday night at 10pm (not 9pm as I reported earlier). This was my first time working with the legendary Patti LuPone, who acts and sings up a storm. Also in the episode: my old friend and collaborator Michael Urie, and my new friend Nathan Lee Graham, both sensational. Oh, and Carra Patterson returns as Kaya! All that, and it goes without saying but I’ll say it, Carrie Preston is divine, and Wendell Pierce is a joy. Please watch, Thursday at 10, or stream the next day. After fifty episodes of ELSBETH, I figured I should finally see Agatha Christie’s THE MOUSETRAP in the West End, now in its 74th year. (And so few shows do a Tuesday matinee!) Great fun, but it feels weird not knowing who the murderer is… #elsbeth by @jontolins

The distinguished composer Ben Moore and I have been writing an opera. Yesterday, we presented selections from the piece to its subject, Jim Obergefell (@jim.onthemoon), the plaintiff in the case that made gay marriage legal in the United States (at least for now). To our delight and great relief, Jim loved what he heard. We're so grateful for his support. Creating a new opera is a long road, but we're off to an exciting start. Stay tuned. (Great thanks to @jonas_hacker_tenor, @edwardparksbaritone, and @baritonebartender who sang for Jim, @johnarida who played, and @tivolitreloar, and @gregory.feldmann, who also joined us to record some demos.
