Wat heb ik genoten van het witte landschap. Helaas is de 22 cm (gemeten in mijn tuin) binnen 24 uur zo goed als verdwenen. Maar ja, er zijn ook mensen die daar dan weer blij me zijn.

I thoroughly enjoyed the white landscape. Unfortunately, the 22 cm (9") (measured in my garden) had virtually disappeared within 24 hours. But then again, there are also people who are happy about that.

Helmond's castle is Sinterklaas' temporary home.
Sinterklaas or Sint-Nicolaas is a legendary figure based on Saint Nicholas, patron saint of children. Other Dutch names for the figure include De Sint ("The Saint"), De Goede Sint ("The Good Saint") and De Goedheiligman ("The Good Holy Man"). Many descendants and cognates of "Sinterklaas" or "Saint Nicholas" in other languages are also used in the Low Countries, nearby regions and former Dutch colonies.
The feast of Sinterklaas celebrates the name day of Saint Nicholas on 6 December. The feast is celebrated annually with the giving of gifts on St. Nicholas' Eve (5 December) in the Netherlands and on the morning of 6 December, Saint Nicholas Day, in Belgium, Luxembourg, and northern France (French Flanders, Lorraine, and Artois). The tradition is also celebrated in some territories of the former Dutch Empire, including Aruba.
Sinterklaas is one of the sources of the popular Christmas icon of Santa Claus.

The Stadshaven.
The Stadshaven (city harbor) of Goes is the former harbor of the city of Goes and has been in use as a transit harbor since 1974. Located in the city center, the harbor is connected to the Oosterschelde National Park, the largest national park in the Netherlands, via the Goese Sas.

Historic houses surround the city harbor, including 't Soepuus, a former tidal watermill.
The names of several streets around the city harbor recall the historical significance of several products that were crucial to the Goes economy, namely Bierkade (Beer Quay) and Turfkade (Turf Quay). The quay walls of the city harbor are a national monument.

De Stadshaven.
De Stadshaven van Goes, is de voormalige haven van de stad Goes en sinds 1974 in gebruik als passantenhaven. De haven bevindt zich in het centrum en heeft via het Goese Sas een verbinding met Nationaal Park Oosterschelde, het grootste Nationaal Park van Nederland.

Rondom de stadshaven staan historische huizen waaronder het 't Soepuus, een voormalige getijdewatermolen.
De namen van enkele straten rond de Stadshaven herinneren aan de historische betekenis van enkele producten die van grote betekenis waren voor de Goese economie, namelijk Bierkade en Turfkade. De kademuren van de stadshaven zijn een rijksmonument

Just off the Su Guidue beach lies the islet of Su Giudeu, accessible on foot or by swimming. It offers an exceptional panoramic viewpoint from which you can admire the spectacular blue hues of the sea and the enchanting coastline of southern Sardinia. In the last photo, you can see the islet in the distance, 150 meters away.

Voor het strand spiagia Su Guidue ligt het eilandje Su Giudeu welk door het water te voet of zwemmend bereikbaar is. Het biedt een uitzonderlijk panoramisch uitzichtpunt van waaruit u de spectaculaire blauwtinten van de zee en de betoverende kust van Zuid-Sardinië kunt bewonderen. Op de laaste foto zie je het eilandje in de verte op 150 meter afstand.
