Aleks was phenomenal to work with. He fantastically captured the perfect balance of mischief and coming-of-age, as we went for a deceptively simple, elegant design. Shared a few detailed shots of his work because I loved them so ✨

After two years of development, we are finally launching our @seedandspark campaign for Yo No Soy Mi Mamá this Tuesday.

This project started in 2023. @bettyboomboom67 and we’ve have been pushing nonstop to make this film happen. We won a grant from @wifpdx (Thank You!!!) in December 2023. Now, with your support, we move into production this November.

This story is for the children of immigrants. For the oldest daughters. For the messy, proud, layered experience of being Mexican-American. We’re not asking permission. We’re making this on our terms.

To access the funds, we need to raise 30% in the first week and 80% in 30 days. If you have a Seed & Spark account, follow the campaign as soon as we launch. It’s free and helps us build momentum.

We’ve got some incredible incentives, including original artwork from Betty. Her visual art is funding her film work, and we love that.

This film is made by a collective of artists who have worked together in different ways over the years, building trust, community, and creative chemistry. We’ve stood side by side on sets, in production offices, and at late-night wrap parties. To be here again, working together to tell this story, is an honor.

‼️‼️Our @seedandspark campaign for Yo No Soy Mi Mamá is officially live‼️‼️

We’ve been working on this film since 2023. We’ve gotten one grant, built the team, shot concept footage, and now we need you to help us cross the finish line and get us into production!

This story centers 15-year-old Ale, a Mexican-American teen trying to go to her favorite band’s show. Despite her mom’s strict religious rules.

It’s about rebellion, identity, and breaking cycles with a pair of scissors and a whole lot of guts.

We’re making this for the oldest daughters. For all the teen misfits. For Mexican-American girls who never got to see themselves on screen unless they were surviving something traumatic.

Our director, @bettyboomboom67, is offering her original artwork as an incentive. It’s stunning. Her art is funding her film and that’s the kind of creative ecosystem we believe in.

We’re filming in Portland, featuring a local punk band, @vueltaspdx and showing the connection of Mexican musicians here in the PNW.

OKAY 👌
 • Director Andrew Kightlinger and I clicked fast. The text banter was instant. • Lesson from the Oregon Coast. Do not expect any café or restaurant to cater a crew of 40 on Father’s Day weekend. • The Solve = Safeway fried chicken and charcuterie for “dinner.” I hand assembled 100 shrimp and jerk chicken skewers and grilled in the middle of the night for the team. Redemption. (sort of) • You feed people. You keep morale up. • The best part. Time with crew besties at the coast. The work is hard. The community is worth it.

There’s A Devil Inside Me is moving, transgressive, hilarious and devious all at the same time. Made by a womxn/non-binary led team, produced indie, and made with love and grit.

We’ve been hitting the film festival circuit hard and so far here are festivals that connect with our story and vision.

We made it with an all-hands indie crew across communities that rarely get the mic.

Thrilled to share the trailer for There’s a Devil Inside Me ✨ It’s having it’s world premiere at @laliff_ 🥳

May 31st at 3p at TCL Chinese Theaters.

This short film is about a mischievous teen that gets into pleasurable trouble every step of the way.

The universe was magical in uniting me with Mexican-American actor @kr.yst as the lead, to play a different type of Latina one that straddles good and evil.

@marcripper and I wrote this years ago but it was a logistical feat, so it went on the shelf. But when I saw the opportunity to apply to @americanfilminstitute DWW+ I knew I wanted to push myself to make this film. Thanks in large part to the producing team: @joopjoop.creative @notthetennisplayer_ @moncastrob
