(2/3) KNEEPADS TO SPIKES

before i express everything about my athletic journey, i just want to thank everyone who has trained me, coached me, and who was my teammate. you guys will forever be apart of my story!

going into college, i chose to continue playing volleyball. i loved dance and i look forward to picking it up again, but i wanted to be a collegiate athlete so bad! starting off my journey, i knew i had to show up and work hard. it was not going to come easy and i had everything set up for to be successful…until i came upon an SI joint dysfunction.

it went from me being capable of starting on the court to being behind in skill and find a different home. it wasn’t easy having to transfer back home, but i was still hopeful. i switched positions and everything with hopes of going back to D1, but the negative feelings about volleyball were still there.

during my third year, i made the bold decision to switch to track. i knew it was going to be a challenge, but it didn’t stop me from trying something new. i even picked up a couple events i’ve never done to see where i would fit in. next thing you know, im leading the conference and qualifying for regionals and state.

it’s also crazy to say how started in the SWAC at a different school playing volleyball then eventually transferring to a school in the same conference earning a spot at the podium.

i want to thank @txsutfxc for giving me a chance and letting me continue my journey. thank you pouring into me and pushing me to be the best athlete possible. i’m sad that this past season was my last season with you guys. i had hope that the waiver was going to get passed for another season, but no matter what, i’ll forever be grateful and honored to be a Flying T!

to @csmtrackfieldxc , i miss you guys every single day and can’t thank you enough for letting me explore this new chapter. from having an identity crisis of who i was as an athlete to leading the team and being apart of the social media crew, you guys have never left my side and made me feel important. change is scary, but being apart of this team has made the transition a breeze. once a dawg, always a dawg!

(1/3) FROM THE BAY TO THE H

five years, four schools, three hbcu’s, two sports, and i was blessed enough to graduate from the ONE and ONLY texas southern university!

a lot people would look at this probably ask why did i move so much or why i chose the path i chose. its because i simply chose myself. growing up, i put a lot of people and different priorities before me. this caused me to lose myself a bit and drift away mentally. but by the grace of God and putting my faith before anything else, it helped me see things more clearly.

in fact, i don’t regret one decision i made throughout my undergrad experience. while transferring to different schools and making all sorts of decisions, i was to obtain two degrees and one certificate, make lifelong friends and connections, and receive opportunities to help better my future career.

to everyone who has been there by my side, who helped me when i was at my lowest, and who loved me for myself even when i made mistakes, i want to thank you. thank you for believing in me, thank you for investing your time and care into me, and thank you for simply loving me.

to @texassouthern and @txsucots , thank you for allowing me to continue and finish my education. the goal was always the degree, but i have accomplished so much more than an education. i get to be apart of a tradition of black excellence and great success.

with all that being said, i am proud to say that im an HBCU grad and a proud TSU alumni. thank you for everything and GO TIGERS🐅🤍 taken in Texas Southern University by @jordanflwrs
