Another fight prep done with @baileycollins.1 with final weight cut today before stepping in the ring tomorrow fighting for the @wbc_muaythai_australia Australian Belt.

Another period leaving no stone unturned, one of our best yet however still so much more room to grow.

The longer you work with an athlete the easier it becomes to know exactly what it is they do and don’t need on a day.
My job is to keep them ready for their sport, not to take away from what that sports focus is.

A professional in every sense of the word and always in your corner.

Time to go 🥊

Technology in Sport

What I use and where I use technology to prepare athletes for their sport.
How we implement technology alongside programs and coaching systems to drive outcomes for athletes.
And how technology has changed the way we can speed up rehab in injuries when returning to play, or for some, everyday life.

The first of many seminars to come.

Schools investing in excursions to professionals in elective studies is becoming a lot more common and it’s pretty exciting to think of what the next generation have access to.

Being able to understand where strength and conditioning sits alongside the use of technology in preparation whilst also getting hands on experience with the use of the equipment would be unreal as a teenager.

Just like that one week later, some time to debrief and it’s all come and gone for what was @thetrackclassic first ever.

What started as just an idea to bring a 5km race to Western Sydney around a track and allow all walks of life to run the same loop together, built lots of early momentum and quickly turned into what can only be described as a huge success last week.

Fast, flat, unfiltered - That was the aim.

Allow people of all running abilities to compete on a single track, with people of similar paces side by side.
To feel included in a race, rather than left at the back of the pack.
To allow elite runners a chance to feel the energy of a crowd inside the track screaming them on from one metre away.
For athletes and runners from all backgrounds to put their sport and training aside and test what is the most common central ground of aerobic capacity - the 5000m.

So grateful for to every bit of help and support we received from friends and family and those who gave up their weekends to assist in set up and pack up. Especially to those who helped out on the day in various roles - we were able to deliver much bigger on a promise we made at first in building the first event. Without each of you it would not be what it was, you know who you are.

Thank you to the vendors and sponsors who believed in the vision and backed us early days, you will always be the ones who first got us to the start line.

I didn’t get to fulfil my spot on the start line, but I’ll be chasing my own 5k this weekend.

Running can happen anywhere, all year round.
Your training should happen anywhere, all year round.
But there is only one event like this - @thetrackclassic is here to stay.

See you at the next one 😏 by @jordanhooker_

The importance of being strong enough.

I have touched on this idea on the @trainforeverythingpodcast in the past but its an important one in the landscape of training not only coming around to off season for most winter sports but also with running and hybrid racing on the rise.

There is an important marker when training concurrently with both strength and conditioning and it is the underrated need to stick to what good strength training looks like.

We don’t have to be heavy on volume, nor do we have to be hitting PR’s lots, but there does need to be an understanding of just how important it is to keep the consistency and frequency of strength sessions in your schedule when conditioning is a focus - whether that be fitness, or running events.

Regardless of whether you are a casual trainer who enjoys running regularly, an off season athlete who wants to get fitter or faster, or you’re looking to attack a training format combining fast run efforts with other modalities, there will come a time where the calculation of bodyweight, weekly km’s, and strength needs to somewhat match up.

We can run lots and develop greater efficiency, for sure.
We can also get stronger and produce more force in each step.
But if the approach to keep both needles moving forward considers the need to keep strength above a certain baseline, the upside of the athlete or person is much higher what it could be if they are all in on just chasing one running or fitness result.

It is much easier to handle the chaos of your life + training by meeting the minimum effect dose of strength alongside your conditioning each week than it is to deal with a niggle or injury that pops up that you then need time to settle and build back into training through rehab. by @jordanhooker_

A bit of sickness made a full training week hard, but still found many moments inside the chaos.

You have to stay in it.

We are inherently designed to seek understanding of everything we can learn from.

In all parts of life, the “why” behind anything creates more intrigue, buy in, and trust.

If I can show you why movements, programs, exercises and systems are put in place, it might better break down for you what the outcome feels like when trying it for yourself. by @jordanhooker_
