Conforming to timelines set by societal norms has never been my ‘thing’. It hasn’t been this way for lack of trying. I went to university, got a degree, went into the corporate world and quite frankly, it all chewed me up and spat me out. Uni was a fairly harrowing experience, my degree took 2yrs longer than expected and I only lasted about 6 months in said corporate gig.
I felt lost. I felt like I was letting down all those people who used to tell my parents “she’s got so much potential. She will do great things when she’s older”. I felt like I had failed…and then I pivoted.
Now I’m self-employed and I’ve totally found my passion. Will it make me famous? No. Will it make me loads of money? No. But am I exactly where I need to be? Hell yes.
Sometimes our stories aren’t cover page-worthy, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t fulfilling our potential. It just means that we are a part of the many that build our worlds behind the scenes and they are still equally as precious. by @jordanvandayar
