Not an easy decision to make for a Capricorn like me but I’m learning to foresee capacity levels :)

Appreciate all who have commissioned me for photography this year - I’m truly grateful to be able to use a camera to serve others and support myself at the same time🙏 And I have more than enough work to focus on for the rest of 2026!

Thx for understanding 💛

In May, I traveled to @metiscrossing to join @thenarwhalca at their annual retreat. I was tasked with photographing the day’s events, making portraits of teams and staff, and creating candid pictures that they could use for presentations and fundraising asks since it’s rare that their nation wide team all got together in person like this.

The Narwhal is an online magazine comprised of investigative journalists who focus on environmental issues started in 2018 by Carol Linnitt and Emma Gilchrist (pictured together on slide 12). A group of talented, passionate, empathetic people from across our country committed to thoughtful independent journalism to help us make sense of complex environmental issues that affect us all. It was inspiring to say the least spending a day with these folks and getting to learn about The Narwhal’s history, past and present challenges, and the future goals of the non-profit platform.

Although their stories and content are free to view, they rely heavily on memberships to fund their work. If you are feeling stressed and anxious about climate change (always top of mind for me during these scorching summer days and with ongoing wildfires) - it’s more important than ever to engage with factual and people-centred stories to help guide your decisions, hold corporations and our governments accountable, and inspire hope ✨

I am now a paying member and subscriber of The Narwhal and I highly encourage you to be as well if you care about our natural world, tackling climate change, and supporting Indigenous sovereignty 🌿

Big thanks to @photobracken for bringing me out and being incredibly kind and sympathetic from our initial touchpoint to when I drove off. I felt so taken care of on this job which is not always the case. Another innately positive trait of the people that The Narwhal attracts to their wonderful team 🙏 taken in Métis Crossing by @jordhon

Portraits of Al Chapman (@amusicalchap) - MCM furniture lover, father to @my_northern_daisy, musician, family man, champion of local arts, and executive director of @artshabitatyeg ✨

Al has been a major supporter of my arts practice in my studio at ArtsHub Ortona and it’s been a pleasure to get to know him, to see a friendly face consistently in the studio halls, and photograph him for a feature in @yegarts back in the springtime

Finally get to share about my first permanent installation of portraits at the @stelmachcommunityhealthcentre in Mill Woods! ✨

In July 2025, I had the pleasure of photographing Angela, Evan, Daniel, Arnim, Susan, and Sadiq - inspiring Mill Woods community members nominated to be featured on the walls of the new, beautiful, and innovative Stelmach Community Health Centre (that displays probably one of the best land acknowledgements I’ve seen). The chosen heroes remind us of the importance of showing up for each other and contributing to our communities through everyday acts of care.

It was a proud moment to visit the final pieces this past week with Sunny. The power in professionally printed and installed portraits (stunningly done by The Big Pixel and overseen by @elccunningham ) is one that always hits me deeply. It’s a whole other experience. Print your work!! (Or get someone else to do it for you) 🖼️

The centre itself is lovely and features many other local artworks - it’s like walking through a gallery where you can also get your health up! Highly recommend visiting and please let me know if you do :) Learn about why these folks are featured by searching “Portraits of connection at the Stelmach Community Health Centre”

These projects take many hard working folks to make happen so big thanks to:

Lisa, Vanessa, Scarlett, and Cindy from @covenanthealthca for their pre-production coordination and shoot day assistance

Tyler and Ellen from the @givetouhf Arts in Health for the initial contact for this project and production support from concept to installation

Min @min.k.media for his vivacious set support and lighting assistance

Anita @floralsbyanita for her ravishing bouquet that was featured consistently in all of the portraits 💐

Lastly, shoutout to the @square1coffee barista for making me and Sunny’s day with the cutest latte art of three bears when we visited the centre. You didn’t even know we’re expecting a baby and yet!!! ☕️👼

Much love and gratitude for these opportunities to uplift others in our community through photography 🙏
