Thinking about the evolution that is you , makes me tear up sometimes. The small town country girl from Benton Harbor, Michigan took the cards she was dealt, and played a hell of hand! You’re a bold, unrelenting, strong, but most of all wise. I’m so blessed and proud to call you my mom( and my bank 🤣) Enjoy your day princess, you deserve it🥳🤩❤️#happybirthdaytoyou #mommy #boss by @jordi.b__

Ive officially been back in NYC for a month and I can already see my progress. Slowly but surely it’s all coming back and I’m just giving myself grace to enjoy the process🙂✨

I said I was going to put myself out there more, regardless of how cringe I feel about it. So Here’s me holding myself accountable. It was super hard for me to post this bc I very self conscious about my turns, but only up from here right? 🥹

Reflecting on the New Year reminded that today is a special day for me. 5 years ago today, I started my ballet journey. The opportunities I’ve been allotted, the community I’ve been able to build, and the knowledge and skills I have gained over this time mean much to me. Attempting to find the words is useless as no word(s) can accurately express my sentiments . I want to thank everyone that has had a hand in my growth. Especially @kazantsim.

My first year at Joffrey I remember being in classes all day, then taking the train to Jersey to take his class! I was so eager at that time! I believe he saw my abilities but more so my passion and willingness to learn. He is the one that offered me my first job. I tried to contain my excitement in front of him but I do remember either crying shortly there after or in the train ride home 😂😂 They were happy tears of course because I felt seen for the first time. I was my true, authentic self, and that’s was enough. Some teachers will coddle you, but has always pushed me to dance best and that’s why I train with him. The gratitude I have for him is immense.

I remember almost not going this route. I remember thinking about playing it safe and doing what my family thought was best for me. I also remember the emptiness i felt. I remember wanting to fill a void. I had no idea that ballet was going to be the answer, but I’m damn happy it is❤️

Often times when people have a passion that others don’t understand, people will project their fears on to that person. “ That’s Impossible.” “You can’t do that.” “ Why not do something else?” -

Those things haven’t been said to me. Well they have to an extent, but only because my parents mean well and of course want the best for me, aside from that, everyone has always supported me in everything I’ve done and have told me, “ You got it !” “oh my gosh what can’t you do !?” And my battle was I never believed it. I never believed in myself ever. I never believed that a boy like me could go places. And here I am now after attending a prestigious dance academy in NEW YORK CITY, and 3 professional comtracts later and it’s finally starting to really sink in… I am ALL THAT. I am tired of playing small. I will always be humble, but I am start to step into my light. I may not have 8 pirouettes, I may not have the flattest turn out, but I have a light that shines so bright I couldn’t turn it off if I tried. And after every show the audience saw that and told me that personally🥹

@chocolateballerinaco @iamchocolateballerina thank you for making remember why I go so hard. It’s for little boy that always wanted to be seen, accepted, and loved. This was the first performance where I let that little boy shine and he couldn’t be happier. ❤️
