This Fourth of July is especially meaningful to me.

Ten years ago, my family legally immigrated to the United States from South Africa in search of opportunity and a brighter future. We left behind everything we knew with hope, faith, and the dream of building a better life. Looking back, we never could have imagined where that journey would lead.

America gave my family a chance. A chance to work hard, to dream bigger, and to build a life filled with opportunities we never thought possible. I will never take for granted the privilege of calling this country home, and I will always be grateful for the blessings America has given my family.

As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, I pray we never lose sight of what makes this nation so special. May we continue to protect the freedoms we have been entrusted with, preserve the American Dream, and leave an even stronger America for the generations that come after us.

Happy Birthday, America. Thank you for giving my family a place to call home. We love you. 🇺🇸🤍 taken in USA by @jordyn_hackner
