What. A. Weekend. 🎬✨Who knew you could create a sci -fi fantasy in the basement of my house? This past weekend’s shoot for the @48hourfilmchicago was something truly special and a little wild. We set out to tell a story using one television as our main virtual stage and we pulled it off.

To our incredible cast & crew, thank you for believing in this crazy idea and giving it everything you had. 🙌

No sleep and a lot of heart, we trusted the script, embraced my vision and the challenge, and made the impossible feel effortless. I am so proud of each and every one of you.

This was a fantastical mystical journey I will never forget and I am beyond grateful to have taken it with all of you. 💛

“AIR BALLET” I’ve always loved making films with friends purely for the joy of it. Capturing their passions through my lens and turning them into stories. That’s how My Playground was born a short film series about the places my friends feel most alive.

Greg has been flying for United for 28 years, crossing continents in some of the world’s most advanced aircraft. But when he’s home, he finds just as much joy in his little yellow biplane. The big jets may take him around the globe, but the open cockpit is where he feels most free.

The air is his playground, and I’m honored to share it with you.

Starring: Greg Thorson
Narration: Alan Kelly
Sound Design / Re-Recording Mixer: Beto Santoyo
Colorist: Mike Matusek (Nolo Digital Film)
Written, Filmed & Edited by: Jorge Arana

Film festival at an airport… a first for me!

Had the chance to attend the Queen Bess Centennial Aviation Film Festival, and it turned out to be such a beautiful experience.

One of the highlights was learning more about Bessie Coleman’s story, something that deserves to be told and shared even more.

It was also great connecting with other filmmakers and discovering some incredible work. IN FORMATION directed by Christopher Hoerdemann @primethreeonetwo offered a powerful behind the scenes look at Chicago Public Schools JROTC students experiencing the Chicago Air and Water Show alongside the Blue Angels. Super inspiring to see it through their eyes.

DISCOVERING BESSIE COLEMAN directed by Beth Powell @ladyav8rbeth was another standout. A moving documentary that shares how Bessie’s legacy continues to inspire new generations. Knowing it was created by an American Airlines captain made it even more powerful. Such meaningful work, truly inspiring.

What stood out the most was the community. People coming together around a niche that feels so specific, yet so powerful.

Grateful to have AIR BALLET be part of it, to connect with incredible people, and to hear that the film resonated with the audience. That means everything.

Huge thank you for the invitation and for putting together such a great first event. Looking forward to continuing to explore this space where aviation meets storytelling. 🎬✈️

AIR BALLET continues to find its wings around the world. What started as a passion project has been gaining recognition across different corners of the globe. From Dubai to experimental film festivals and aviation showcases. It’s exciting to see this short film connect with audiences in its own unique niche and remind me that storytelling can travel farther than we imagine.

Grateful to everyone who has supported, watched, collaborated, and believed in this journey. More than awards, it means a lot knowing people around the world are experiencing something we created with heart.

As someone who grew up in Mexico and proudly calls the U.S. home, the Olympics show what every nation’s hard work means. Some win medals, some don’t, but participation matters. I was proud to see Mexico there. That’s the beauty of the Olympics. It brings the world together.

Seeing both U.S. women’s and men’s hockey teams win was remarkable. I was so proud watching the women come back and take gold. The women’s victory, with the first Black woman on the team, was powerful and historic. The men’s win made it even sweeter. It was incredible to see both teams accomplish something so special.

It meant even more to me because my son played hockey, my daughter figure skated, and our lives have revolved around ice sports for years. These victories felt personal. Watching Auston Matthews, with Mexican and American roots, lead was another proud moment. That fusion is what this country can be at its best.

Leadership matters. I’m not political, but that’s why I vote. I don’t have to argue politics. Just like all of you, I vote for the leadership I believe reflects the values we should stand for.

What disappointed me most was the missed opportunity from the top. The president had a chance to honor both teams equally and unify the country even more. Instead, tasteless remarks and laughter overshadowed something beautiful. As the father of a daughter, that laughter felt like a punch in the gut. It reminded me how easily women’s accomplishments can be minimized, even at the highest levels.

We, especially as men, must do better. Supporting women’s accomplishments should never be optional. It’s necessary. I hope players speak up. Admitting when something wasn’t right shows maturity. Silence isn’t the answer.
For our daughters. For the next generation.

Standing next to my son, watching history together. I grew up loving this game, he grew up playing it. This one was special. A moment we’ll never forget. 🇺🇸🏒#usa🇺🇸 #hockey #usa #gold by @jorg3arana

After 10+ years of freelancing, I’m joining rEvolution as Director of Production.
A new chapter, same hustle. Just with a bigger squad and a whole lot more firepower.

Freelancing was an incredible ride. Building my own production company, collaborating with amazing agencies and brands, and learning so much along the way. But now, I’m excited to step into this next chapter with a team that blends creativity, sports, and storytelling in all the right ways.

To be honest, I didn’t think I’d return to a full-time role. But rEvolution isn’t your typical place. The people, the purpose, the energy. It all just felt right.

And the best part? I start today. On my birthday. Couldn’t ask for a better gift.

Here’s to new beginnings and the journey ahead. Viva la rEvolution! taken in Fulton Market District by @jorg3arana
