Wear the damn shorts😎 by @jorhind

Well it’s taken me a few days to get this posted. I finally feel I can string more than two words together.

What a weekend!!!!

Saturday saw my second trip to @fitzone_hobart for a Deka Mile comp.
So cool to have a Deka affiliate gym just a couple of hours away!

So proud, I paced myself almost perfectly the goal was sub 30, I got 29:59 and shaved almost a minute off my first attempt.
I wasn’t able to empty the tank though, as the next day saw me in the Imed Pathway Coastal Ultra Half marathon 🫣

This was something I’d been training for for over 6 months and I wasn’t as fresh legged as I would have liked.

I knew I would get the distance in, but having never actually run over 16kms before I didn’t know how my body would behave.

I ran in a team of 3, we completed 64kms all up, my leg was an out and back from Leith to Ulverstone and back. 21.5kms officially. (Strava says a tad more 😏)

The weather was magical, couldn’t have asked for better.

All was tracking to plan, chugging along, my goal was 2:30min, by the 17km, I had some sharp stabbing pain at the back of my right knee, and my leg was tight!

I had to make some adjustments to my stride, assess and decide how much and what damage I thought was being done and make a decision.

We pushed on the last few kms through gritted teeth.

I clocked 2:37mins, I was pleased enough.

Reflection: I can’t believe I ran for two and a half hours straight!!!!!🥹
That’s nuts!!!!
I’m glad I did it, I’m not in a hurry to do it again lol, I do prefer my runs broken up with large obstacles ha ha 😂

Recovery now, @the_rugged_race training day on Oct 18th, I’m looking forward to meeting and helping newcomers tackle the course and hopefully guide and inspire someone to give it a go 💪🏼

Final quarter of my “All in balls in” 2026 year, I want to finish up strong, fit, healthy and ready for new challenges in 2027 ☺️

Last minute decision to get in another long run before next weeks half marathon, good idea at the time 🫤

Felt awesome, I was 15 kms deep before I even felt my legs, body was really good.

Couldn’t hear any head noise over the menstrual cramps lol

My HR a tad higher than ideal, I was trying to slow down and keep it under 170 but 🤷‍♀️

Feeling a twinge in the back of my knee today which is a slight concern, will be managing this week.

Hope I can stay in one piece 🙈😎

In case your wondering what I do for fun 😎
Deka Strong Ballarat 26

For the first time in my life, I’ve just realised I no longer feel like the underdog.

I have always, for as long as I can remember felt out of place, treading water, outside looking in like I don’t belong, not good enough -imposter syndrome probably. 🤷‍♀️

But now, I am confident and mostly comfortable in my skin, (as loose and jiggly as it is)!

I am calm, I own my space.

I know that I can walk into any gym, anywhere, and belong.

I found my tribe 💗🖤

With gym health and fitness culture there doesn’t have to be any words exchanged between goers, no verbal communication, just a look, a nod, your seen and immediately an unspoken mutual respect is exchanged.

Gym rats recognise other gym rats and admire and appreciate the body you have -not for its cosmetic or cultural value- but because they know the time, effort, energy and dedication it took to look the way it does.

I actually don’t despise seeing my reflection in a shop window.

A fit physique can’t be handed down to you, can’t be purchased, can’t be given off to someone else to work and train then you just saddle up and compete it😉

I feel seen, I feel respected
I belong 🖤

Till the buzzer goes and it’s time to work 💪🏼

When it’s your last set of pull ups, you weren’t intentionally filming, but you catch the feels and have a wee dance🔥

Have no clue what song came on ha ha

Dance like no ones watching 💕
Here ya go, this is what I mostly do between my sets ha ha

Day off so back in the gym, @hfworld had a fun sesh of hammies, glutes and tricep supersets, something different to keep it interesting. 💪🏼

A little stroll In the afternoon sun, and then a @sweatypenguins to recover and support health and healing.
So happy with how the body has pulled up post Spartan weekend shenanigans. 💪🏼😎
I always say “if your gonna wear it you better be it” 😎

Next week is prep for @deka.australia.nz.fiji in Ballarat.
