This is an extract of Strangers in the Night, a show I made last year together with Linus Jansner and Carlo Massari. The show looks at themes of deception, manipulation and gaslighting and the effect that can have, mostly inspired by my own experiences and partly by the creative process iteself. There is also a questioning of the nature of reality and of performance, with elements of Freud's ideas about the Ego, Id and Superego. We will be touring the show in Italy this autumn, and hopefully beyond there in the future.

An exact from Strangers in the Night by Jos Baker, Linus Jansner and Carlo Massari.

The show that investigates lies, manipulation, and gas-lighting; the way that they break down subjective reality and the impact that has. It is an autobiographical work which was also heavily influenced by Freud and Brecht. It explores the division of self and a questioning of performance itself.

Big thanks to Linus and Martina for helping to develop the material in this clip, and for their patience with me forgetting the choreography when I was busy finishing the script and structure of the show. ☺️

Next performances are in Venice and Balzano in September with @cec_company

Jos Baker is a choreographer, performer, theatre maker and teacher.
He started his dance training at the age of 7 with Oxford Youth Dance and
then continued his formal education first at The Laban Center London and then at PARTS in Brussels.
Jos worked for Peeping Tom as a dancer, actor and collaborator, principally with the productions 32 Rue Vandenbranden [2009], and A Louer [2011].
Since then he worked briefly for DV8 Physical Theatre on the production of John

This partnering workshop explores the dynamic exchange between dancers through communication, trust, and shared movement. Together, we will work on technical tools for giving and receiving weight, developing sensitivity and responsiveness, and expanding creative possibilities in collaboration. The workshop invites participants to deepen connection, awareness, and play within partnering practice.

b12 summer! on stillness and movement / a research workshop by @jos.baker of @peepingtomdance coming to the b12 summer festival, from 18/07 — 21/07/2026 at @dock_11_eden in berlin.

this workshop will focus on performance skills and composition, with an emphasis on improvisation. what is it that brings power to a performer — attention to a certain aspect of the movement, idea, body or stage? how can we harness our own creative power. this improvisation-based workshop will look into detail and attention, exploring how precision of both awareness and action can bring massive benefits to the practitioner and can also be translated to an audience. using elements of dance, theatre and meditation, we will examine how different mindsets and approaches can change our movement patterns, as well as how our movement patterns affect our thinking.
