FAME💥

Since it’s the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month, it’s time I post about the best summer ever. The Muny, you were a dream come true. To my In the Heights family, I miss you all so much.

Looking through my camera roll and I stumbled upon this performance I did last year at FSU for our “Cabaret” module.

I decided to try something new and explore what a solo-performance song/monologue/set/one-man-show or whatever this was. This was the result. I definitely had a lot of fun writing and performing this, which reminded me of a couple things we forget as artists, sometimes:

1. Be curious, explore. When you ask yourself, what would it be like to do something like that? Do it. It will reveal much about yourself as a human and artist.

2. Be yourself. The funniest, silliest, loveliest, most genuine person you can portray, is yourself. Everything else flows through who you are. Even when you are able to inhabit someone else’s shoes completely, it comes from the greatest, deepest part of your humanity, your empathy.

3. Be present and have fun. Leave expectations behind and immerse yourself in the moment. Art is about process over product, let yourself be a product of your process.

Hope you like it. I know I said “five steps” twice😆 by @josejmunoz_

Three months ago, I graduated from FSU with the absolute best MT class. I am grateful for the teachings, memories and experiences that college brought along. But, I am most grateful for the people that arrived in my path and will forever be in my heart.
The more I love, the more I learn, and the more I learn, the more I love. Keep loving and keep learning.

AND this week, I started my first professional show… at @themuny doing In The Heights🤯. I get to step into this beautiful industry celebrating my identity with the show that made me fall in love with musical theatre, and with the most amazing artists. While carrying these memories and these people in my heart everyday, and remembering everything @alisahauservoice @jbenwidmar Chari and Kate taught me🫡
