Another one!🥳🥳🥳 Today’s my actual bday but frfr EVERYDAY feels like a birthday. I wake up without an alarm clock and do what I want, when I want …EVERYDAY. I get to eat my mama’s cooking EVERYDAY in a restaurant we started from scratch, in a building with no mortgage, renovated with our bare hands. I bounce around the globe telling people about my idea to make Natchez, MS the Martha’s Vineyard of the South. 3 years ago, almost everyone laughed: now, they quietly listen. 🫡🫡 I argue, fuss and fight with hardheaded entrepreneurs about starting, growing or scaling their business and then sit around until the wee hours of the morning talking trash and sipping muscadine wine my brother makes. To keep life interesting, I say yes to crazy projects that push my creativity to its limits and give me access to some of the craziest CEOs and leaders in the country who pay me to help them pop they 💩. Music is all up and through everything at all times. I have ZERO RESPONSIBILITY TO ANY OTHER LIVING THING: humans, plants or animals, except those I undertake as my duty to humankind. When a need arises, i got access to money and to honey🤤😍. If you cant tell… Im having the time of my life!!!!! All praise to the Most High God for a most incredible life! 🥳🥳🥳

During the pandemic, I read @robertiger ‘s autobiography “The Ride of a Lifetime” (one of the best I’ve read ) and added him to my bucket list of people to meet. As the venerable CEO of @disney, his leadership style struck me as the perfect balance of power and compassion- a rarity among the big bosses and power players. It was so dope being able to chop it up with him this year @howard1867 where he was bestowed with one of alma maters highest honor. Shout out to my guy Dr. YOUNG for the access and the opportunity. Growing up, we sat on the porch in the country for hours jamming to music and having random conversations about nothing, unaware that we were poor because that life felt so rich. We might have a little more now but it’s still the simple things that make life feel so full. A Porch. A breeze. A playlist. A peace of mind. The work continues💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿. We’re skipping the parades and programs this year and honoring our local Black History by doing the hard work of imagining new possibilities for Natchez’s historic black neighborhoods. Renowned author Richard Wright’s childhood home, the birthplace of Jackson State University, and some of the finest homes owned by African-Americans in the state of Mississippi in the late 1800s are among the vast historical sites and artifacts in Natchez’s historic black neighborhoods. If we don’t save them, fix them up, and preserve the sites that tell our history, who will ? Together, WE WILL! I’m 100% sure I was put on the planet at this time to do this work and it’s the honor of lifetime to do it. If you’re in Natchez, pull up on me. Man i don’t know what it’s like being black and from other places but being black and from Mississippi is ALL I EVER WANNA BE! The Miss-Lou (Mississippi- Louisiana) community showed out yesterday! God blessed us with good weather and it’s always good vibes when our community gets together, especially in Natchez. 4 southwest Mississippi public school districts represented, a slew of churches, community groups, the Divine Nine… Nearly A mile and a half of black folk and a hand full of white folk… nothing but good vibes allllll day long!
