Learning Can Be Fun! 🥳

Today I want to share a little about Long Island award-winning author Joseph L. Licari ✍️ who is known for his engaging storytelling and educational content 📚

Joe’s books are filled with humor and infectious rhymes that entertain while keeping young readers engaged, all while helping to build vocabulary and strengthen literacy skills.

It’s a perfect reminder that learning doesn’t have to feel like work - it can be joyful, playful, and something children truly look forward to 🥰

I love finding books that make learning feel completely effortless and Mia’s Marvelous Adventure makes learning about homophones so much fun! Mia, Pia and their adorable mouse friends head off on a farm adventure where every page is packed with clever wordplay and plenty of smiles. From a pair of pears and a hoarse horse to a bare baby bear, flour and flower, and dear deer, the story brings these often-tricky words to life in such a memorable way.

It’s a fantastic choice for children aged 5 and over, introducing homophones through clear, engaging examples that are woven naturally into the story. Whether you’re sharing it at home or using it in the classroom, it’s a book that will have children laughing while building their confidence with language. Educational, entertaining and one you’ll reach for again and again!

☕️ As an author and music instructor of kids and adults, I see this pretty often. How music and stories are the best way to connect across generations. Credit to @guitar.day for capturing the feeling so perfectly! 📚🎸

What song is a staple in your house at bedtime?

Heads up — Sadly, our participation in today's Bethpage event has been canceled because of the weather. I’m disappointed we won’t get to see you, but luckily, there are a number of fun events on the calendar between now and the end of the year!

Next up on my calendar:
📖 Oct 24-25: Bookfest Fall 2026 (virtual live stream — reading + guitar)
☕ Nov 6th: Live in person at Jack Jack’s Coffee Shop in Babylon. Book readings and sing-along for the kids!

Thanks! Stay safe and dry! ☔

😉 Kids these days don’t need more screen time. 📲 They need six strings and a little callus on their fingertips. 🎸

So put the phone down, & pick up a guitar. Why? Because the algorithm can’t teach you how to turn a bad day into a riff 🎸the way making your own music can. 😎
