Few frames from a really enjoyable interview project spending time with Tya and her family and the WL team.

I talk with other creatives a lot about the value of magazines now vs 20 years ago. So much of what photographers, artists, and surfers make now lives on screens. I often hear people say, “Print is dead,” but I think it depends on the industry and, more importantly, the value of the content. Books, exhibitions, and magazines still matter.

Before social media, my friends and I, growing up in small coastal towns, looked forward to each new issue of surf and skate magazines. They introduced us to beautiful images, different artists, and stories from around the world. With the visual fatigue of social media, pausing to look rather than scroll is really valuable.
