This is a quote from the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” when Chris Gardner and his son are playing basketball together. Chris watches his son shoot the ball and listens to him talk about wanting to be a professional basketball player. Chris responds in a discouraging manner, telling him that he probably wouldn’t be much better than he was. His son gets upset and puts the basketball away. Seeing his disappointment, he realizes his mistake, and tells his son “Don’t ever let somebody tell you…you can’t do something. Not even me.”

I find this movie incredibly moving, and this scene probably resonates with a lot of people who went on to pursue their passions despite those who told them that it wasn’t possible, or that they weren’t good enough. I have had people say some pretty discouraging things to my face, but I continue to persevere despite the doubt that some people have had in my ability. This taught me that you can never allow someone else’s limitations to become your own. I hope this finds its way to the right person who needs to hear this.

The double tongued A in the soprano clarinet part was sped up cause I can’t do it yet. I’m working towards it slowly though. The rest of the double tonguing is actually real lmao
