🚨 NEW JOB 🚨

Three years ago, Josh Baker was a finalist for a broadcasting position at Ferris State University.

He didn’t get the job.

When the position opened again, Baker was ready for another shot. He is the new voice of Ferris State hockey.

My Life Working in Athletic Communications Part 1. Thursday was the first day of events for us at SVSU and with Women’s Soccer at 11 AM, Men’s Soccer at 1:30 PM, and Football at 7 PM, I pulled into my driveway 18 hours after I left it. The build up feels like more work than the day itself and these are days that make it fun working in athletics, but definitely they are the same days that make me sleep in the following morning. by @josh_k_baker

My favorite thing about going on work trips with the golf teams is becoming a nature photographer/videographer. It’s always so peaceful out on the courses early in the morning and I love getting some close up shots of the wildlife. Here’s what I captured a few weeks back when I went to Kentucky to Kearny Hills Golf Course & Cherry Blossom Golf Course. by @josh_k_baker

I had never won either of my adult league hockey or softball city tournaments until after Matt passed away. The first summer, just months after, I won my first softball city tournament in 10 years of playing. Last week, I won my first hockey city tournament with the team Matt played on in 2024. After he passed, I started wearing 47 in his honor (a combination of his two favorite numbers of 4 and 7 that he started to use the last couple years of his life) and in under two years since I was able to win with my family built softball team and the hockey team that allowed me to share the ice with him. The championships aren’t a big deal, it’s adult league lol, but winning with his number with those teams meant a lot to me💛 by @josh_k_baker

@kellykay.jpg and I went to the Arte Museum in New York City yesterday. When I landed on Thursday, the first thing I saw on Instagram was an ad for it and I felt like it was something Matt would have loved. It was only open for a few more days, so I had to go. The color yellow has been important throughout our grief and remembrance of Matt. He also always wanted to make visuals with me for our DJ stuff out of flowers. Manipulating the image and such or speeding up the growth of them. The butterfly and flower room at the end was one of the first exhibits. Matt also owned a Casio piano and there was a little room inside the exhibit with basically the same one. At the end, there was this giant room called the garden with a full 360 display. It was showing some old art and educating about the artist when we walked in. As that finished, Van Gogh appeared. Matt loved Starry Night and Van Gogh, and when Starry Night appeared, the song Clair de Lune started playing, which you can hear on the videos. I have that song in a playlist titled “Matthew💛” on my phone and I listen to it when I want to connect with him or feel those emotions. Lastly, on my last trip to NYC, my mom and dad came with me and we spread some ashes in the water by the Central Park arcade. Shortly after the Van Gogh display, the video of these “soul like” bodies that are glowing with light appeared as they flew around the Central Park arcade. I cannot begin to fathom the connections and pure “coincidences” that happened at the Arte Museum. I can only believe that the energy my brother harnessed in life still lingers and will follow my family and I for the rest of our lives.

Electric Forest Year 9… A much different experience as the first full year without you Matt. Last year, I was there for a couple hours to honor you and spread some ashes. This year, we returned and felt your spirit throughout the entire weekend. I made a luminaria bag for you on Thursday and even found it on Sunday after the storms. We all wore our Team Matthew shirts on Sunday as well and spent the entire day clipping clothespins to people around the Forest with messages of love or memes or just “tag you’re it” like you loved to do. The entire festival ended with Of The Trees and he concluded his set with the same song I started my memorial set for you with. It’s also the song I quoted in the totem I made for you this weekend. Thank you so much for opening my eyes to this world and involving me in the things you enjoyed. You are the best brother I could have ever asked for💛 taken in Electric Forest by @josh_k_baker

Two stadiums, two sports! Yesterday was so much fun. Two flights on the way to NYC followed by NYC FC vs Chicago Fire at Yankee Stadium, then Mets vs Dodgers at Citi Field, and two 3-1 wins for the New York teams⚽️⚾️ by @josh_k_baker
