Buenas tardes everyone. I’m excited to share that I’m curating SACRED LABOR, a group show @thechloenola. The exhibition highlights the hand-sewn traditions of the Black Masking Indians of New Orleans. This practice is a significant African American art form that merits greater recognition. Rooted in folk tradition, it also stands firmly as fine art. SACRED LABOR brings visibility to the embodied knowledge carried across generations of sewists, where each suit reflects devotion, discipline, and cultural memory.

On view through March.
Celebrate the opening with us this Thursday 5–8:30 PM.

A portion of proceeds will support @black_boys_read_nola , a nonprofit promoting literacy and diverse storytelling among youth.

These are the urban cowboy sounds of Black boys riding horses on city streets. These are the street sounds of Black New Orleanians asserting their ownership of their city’s streets in color, sound, rhythm, and step.
