I created a short film that explores the intimate and abstract thoughts of a nondescript character from the first-person perspective. The character grapples with unrelenting loneliness, intrusive rage, entrenched jealousy and agonising paranoia.

Dust is inspired by a journal entry I had penned during an acid trip. I was throwing the frisbee with my friends and there was an excruciating moment where I felt like I was being excluded from the game. I retreated into the solitude of my thoughts, allowing myself to indulge in the comical absurdity of these ensuing emotions. In the midst of my personal crisis, I wrote:

‘May the wrath of the universe be delivered with swift ferocity.’

I wanted to capture this kind of petty entitlement in a subtle and less humorous way; exposing the character’s internal torment and relative projections in stark contrast to the surrounding beauty.
