Living with diabetes doesn’t mean it controls your life. It means you carry something extra every single day and still show up, still perform, and still give everything you have. That’s not a limitation it’s a level of discipline and resilience most people will never understand. The pump on your body and the cgm on your arm aren’t signs of weakness. They’re proof that you figured out how to do this anyway. That’s the difference. That’s the edge.

I accidentally froze my insulin on the road and had ONE spare vial… not enough for another 20 days

I was still in the US when it happened and I’m between doctors right now, so calling in a prescription wasn’t even an option. I had no idea what I was going to do.

Then we crossed into Canada.

I walked into a pharmacy, told them what I needed, and they put it on the counter. No prescription. No doctor’s note. No prior authorization. Just insulin.

I genuinely stood there for a second not knowing what to do with myself. I have never in my life just walked into a store and picked up insulin. The whole thing felt so normal to them and so completely surreal to me.

That walk out of the pharmacy hit different. Something about handling your own health situation without needing permission from a system that isn’t available to you in that moment. I did not realize how much weight I had been carrying around that until it was just gone.

I am not here to argue policy. I am just telling you exactly what happened and how it felt standing in that aisle.

For anyone traveling to Canada and managing diabetes, certain insulins are available over the counter without a prescription, though it can vary by province. Worth knowing before you go.

300s all night. woke up multiple times to correct, nothing worked. finally got it moving by morning after almost 50 units. then crashed into the 60s and played the whole show there.

that was summer fest. biggest crowd of the tour. thank you to everyone who showed up.

low before bed, pasta to treat it, bolused for the carbs and still woke up every few hours in the 300s. the overnight stuff is where touring makes this harder to manage. tired but got breakfast and I’m moving. vlog’s up. by @joshk_ma

Denver that was so cool. Beautiful drive in from Texas and awesome people! The drive in was what did it for me- seeing the plains followed by gorgeous mountains was truly breathtaking. Meeting all you guys was the cherry on top. Even got to meet some fellow type 1 diabetics! Represent💪💪

Handed my pump site to a guy who’s never seen one before. zero hesitation. that’s the kind of friend you keep around.

Normalising this one friend at a time. he didn’t flinch. neither did i.
