Only @joshnandrew himself would wake up at 4am to catch a flight and join me behind the mic 🥹👏🏻 Incredibly grateful for a conversation around the church and what it means for it to be human again.

We are so loud right now and somehow saying almost nothing.

I had a hard conversation with someone this last year who told me, “I need to change what I preach on so I can react to culture and change the world.”

And I remember saying, what if instead of trying to change the world, we just focused on changing our world?

Not every headline needs our opinion. Not every cultural moment needs our reaction. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is get quiet, hear from God, and be faithful to the people He already gave us.

The future is human.

AI can make us faster. Systems can make us more efficient. Technology can help us reach more people.

But none of it can replace presence.

People still need to be known. They need someone across the table. Someone who listens. Someone who stays. Someone who actually cares.

As technology becomes more powerful, I think genuinely human ministry becomes even more valuable.

The future isn’t less technology. It’s more humanity. by @joshnandrew

The heartbeat of Origin.

Supper Clubs are where relationships are built, discipleship gets personal, and a church becomes more than a room full of people.

We share a meal. We open Scripture. We pray for one another. We have honest conversations about following Jesus. We learn each other’s stories and make space to actually know and be known.

Because we don’t just want to gather a crowd on Sundays.

We want to build a church where people belong.

We call them Supper Clubs. by @joshnandrew

It has always been about Him.

Not our name. Not our platform. Not our reach. Not whether people remember the sermon, repost the clip, or know who preached it.

Jesus.

The bloodied King. The pierced hands. The One who made Himself nothing and still holds everything together.

If people remember us and miss Jesus, we missed it.

More of Him. Less of us. by @joshnandrew

We believe the Church’s brightest days are ahead.

Healthy, Spirit-filled churches. People deeply formed in Jesus. Leaders raised up. Pastors and couples sent into cities to build again.

That’s the dream behind Origin.

Not simply a church to gather people, but a people formed to be sent.

We’re believing for a beautiful awakening.

We are not reaction channel preachers.

We do not need a take on every headline, every Christian controversy, every trend, every clip, every cultural moment. We do not need to build sermons backward from what might perform for 30 seconds online.

We are shepherds. We are called to pray, listen, study, preach Christ, and actually form the people in front of us.

The timeline is loud enough.

The pulpit should sound different.

People are not stocks on the NASDAQ

We have to stop expecting some massive return from every person we pour into. They are people, not assets. Some of the most beautiful moments in ministry will be watching someone grow, blessing them, sending them, and making sure they know they are deeply loved even if they are not “with us for life.”

If they leave healthier, stronger, closer to Jesus, and more secure in who God made them to be, that is not a loss.

That is ministry working.

We are stewards, not owners. taken in Omaha, Nebraska by @joshnandrew

For some reason, in moments of our ministry journey, we think we are immune to hurt, betrayal, and even loss.

The trick is not pretending it doesn’t affect us. The trick is refusing to let what hurt us become the lens we lead through.

I’ve been hurt in church. I’ve also hurt people in the church. I don’t want either side of that story to make me cynical, controlling, suspicious, or hard.

I want Jesus to heal me deeply enough that the wound becomes a scar, and the scar becomes wisdom.

We are called to minister from scars, not lead from open wounds. taken in Omaha, Nebraska by @joshnandrew

We’ve been building church since we were teenagers.

For 13 years, we’ve given our lives to it. We’ve watched God move in ways we’ll never be able to explain. We’ve experienced incredible joy, deep disappointment, made mistakes, built things, learned, dreamed, and been formed by people and seasons we’ll carry forever.

Through all of it, one conviction has only grown stronger: we want to spend the rest of our lives building healthy, Spirit-filled churches centered on Jesus and deeply rooted in their cities.

Origin comes from those 13 years.

Not a reinvention of the Church, but a return to what has always made her beautiful. Scripture. Prayer. Repentance. The presence of God. People being deeply formed and leaders being raised up and sent.

We believe the future Church is the ancient Church.

In 2027, Omaha, Nebraska will become the first local expression of Origin.

There’s a lot more to share. For now, we’re grateful to finally put a name to something God has been forming in us for a very long time. taken in Omaha, Nebraska by @joshnandrew

Not every overloaded leader is carrying a lot.

Some are carrying an identity of being indispensable.

“If I don’t do it, it won’t get done.”
“They need me.”
“Nobody can carry this like I can.”

That can sound like responsibility in ministry.

Sometimes it’s just our need to be needed.

If your identity requires everyone to depend on you, you’ll never actually develop anyone.

You were called to equip people, not become irreplaceable. taken in Phoenix, Arizona by @joshnandrew
