It's Friday! Looking at what I hope to play this weekend: More Valheim! My crew and I started the campaign after a quick tutorial play through to learn the game. The tutorial is a numbered deck of cards, acting similarly to the video game, you do the tasks on the cards, familiarizing you with various aspects of the game. (The Tutorial deck then becomes a good reference to use during the campaign!) PS. Trolls are NASTY! As for the campaign, we got Eikthyr down but it wasn't easy! All of our party of 4 died, with our final player dying AS Eikthyr died, so it counted as a success! What is your favorite card tucking game? Components have been on my mind lately, and what we do with cards in games can vary so widely. These three games use tucking for cards in one way or another. 3000 Scoundrels was such a fun game to discover, the cards come in 2 parts, which when placed together, become a whole new combination card. I really love the transparent card modifiers you can sleeve up and swap out as needed. A Message From The Stars was a fun @originsgamefair find. I love puzzle games and this type of co-op induction, pattern- based game had me interested immediately. The screen for the clue giver has spots for you to tuck your answer cards for safe keeping. Special mention: The answer display having a diamond cut out for the dice is a really cool interact-able feature. Finally, Star Wars: Outer Rim is such a beloved game. Building out your character needs some space, and some of that space can be saved by tucking cards under the character boards. I love this game for how many different strategies are possible to be competitive for the win! THIS was the final score! So Quacks has been mentioned here and there, but I hadn't really looked into it. This week I watched @jameystegmaier's TY video about it and I immediately had to buy it! - This is where @might.i.suggest.a.game comes in with his post about a game you just HAD to buy once you saw it - Quacks was it for me! It is a great strategic push your luck game, and my wife loves to push her luck (sometimes to her detriment, so this is a great duo game for us. We quickly got it to the table once it arrived. I went for a points later strategy, my wife went for pumpkins and mushrooms, making leaps up the cauldron every round. In the end, I had caught up to her leaps she had been making and we ended up tying the game at exactly 70 points! That means we need a tie breaker! So, the tie breaker is the highest cauldron on the final round - which was ME! So, @zmangamesofficial started this #shadowstackchallenge thing, where you take the Shadow Troops from Fate of the Fellowship and see how high you can stack them. Take note, these are not normal sized meeples, they are a custom micro cut (second image with a standard d6!). I figured, I have a copy of the game, what's the harm in stacking some meeples! Where I can see it, @thesetupphase stacked the Shadow Troops 7 high, @dungeon_crawler_rob stacked them to 9 high. I managed to get a 10 high stack! I am surprised I kept it steady enough, it isn't easy to stack those little guys. A bit of before and after. This weeks #BoardGameProtoHype theme is Launch. My contribution is a mechanic in my game #Sugarworks - which still has a few more days of late pledge on Kickstarter‼️ The conveyors in the game can be swapped out with conveyor tiles. The candy tries to follow the plan but still has surprising 💥interactions 💥 when it is being sent down the production line. \\ Spoiler Alert // A friend played the first time and said he opened the spoiler back on the first play, so I have been trying to find a way to unlock it every time since - I must have about 15 plays (often 2 player with my wife), and FINALLY I found out what is inside 😂 We finally played a full game Vantage with my nephew, previous time he had to cut it short for another obligation, he enjoyed his first full play!. So, my nephew, wife and I played an Easter Sunday game of Vantage. Things were going well, we were chipping away at the Overpower Mission. We were seeing a couple destinies pop up, ship-related - should be easy! I eventually caught up with my nephew and then we tore through stuff together. The destinies kept piling up, 3 ship related, the full grid one. We obtained the 6 Overpower die slots needed and completed the mission. While we were duoing across the world, we came across something about duels and finally opened the spoiler pack for the first time after like 15 plays! Game was over with an epic victory completing the dueling destiny. Back to work today, but it was a restful weekend spent with family. It is one of my favorite candy holidays (reason why we have Easter shipments in Sugarworks!) My wife got a basket of Peeps for the biggest kid (me) in the house. We got to teach One Week Ultimate Werewolf to the nephews, which we sadly found a broken pedestal in. Also, we had a crazy record breaking session of Vantage - this will need its own post!
