POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
After three and a half years, I’m truly at a loss for words to get to announce The Ordinarily Beautiful — A Union of Design and Story

There’s truly so much to say, but I’ll leave it at this for now.

Thank you Father, and thank you to each of you.

Preview No. 02 — The Eponine Selvedge Denim Pant & Jacket

There’s a lot I could say about this set.

At its heart, it was my way of solving a problem.

I wanted to create a wardrobe of just a few essential pieces that could be mixed seamlessly with one another. A simple, minimal approach to getting dressed, without sacrificing the character, integrity, and thoughtful details that make a garment special.

The silhouettes bring together some of my favorite elements of traditional utility wear with the shape-building and proportions I’ve come to love in contemporary fashion.

Much of the inspiration comes from Japanese and French design between the 1920s and 1940s, reinterpreted through a more modern lens.

Crafted from a custom-milled, 12-ounce light and dry Turkish selvedge denim, the fabric offers the structure, stiffness, and beautiful shape retention we love about raw denim, while maintaining the ease and wearability of a lighter weight.

A balance of utility, elegance, and everyday simplicity. by @joshua.useldinger

A First Look - The Eponine Selvedge Denim Jean & Jacket

A few years ago I became really enamored with the idea of designing a handful of denim pieces that could be interchanged with one another—almost creating a uniform for everyday wear.

Something that carries the elegance and consistency of a suit while still maintaining a sense of utility, pulling from some of my favorite details in Romantic-era French and Japanese design.

• 12-ounce dry Turkish selvedge denim
• Light, dry hand feel
• Custom denim milled specifically for the label
• Unisex jacket block: XXS–XL
• Women’s pant block: 25–28
• Men’s pant block: 30–36
• Colors developed to mix and match seamlessly

I was really intentional about choosing the tone of each color so that every piece could live together naturally. You can wear the full set, mix the different colors, or break everything apart without it ever feeling disconnected.

It’s genuinely become such a joy to wear day to day, especially in the ease of getting dressed in the morning. No matter where I’m going, it can be dressed up and feel refined while still remaining casual and easy enough for everyday wear.

Later today I’ll be sharing the first look at what I think might be the most pivotal garments I’ve ever designed.

But these pieces go a little deeper than that. They’re actually a big part of what inspired me to take my love for designing clothes—and my career in design—and turn it into a brand of my own.

It really started with me making these sets for myself, wearing them constantly, and seeing how much people resonated with the concept and story behind the design.

There’s so, so much I have to share about these. So make sure you check back later today to see the first look at the men’s and women’s Eponine selvedge denim sets. by @joshua.useldinger

An East Village Love Story Part 2 - Featuring the Marleux Featherweight Japanese Denim Chore Shirt

Appreciate the love on all the colors of the Marleux on the site, figured this would be a much more fun way to showcase a garment I love dearly.

The Marleux is still technically a work in progress - We’re about 97% there.

Here are a few of my current thoughts from someone who has been staring at this jacket for far too long:

1. I decided every color is getting two sets of buttons — except red ( Red only gets white, it’s criminal to not rock it )The other 5 colors will come with the white swirlized buttons and a more tonal option. Partly because I couldn’t decide. Mostly because I love how much the buttons completely change the personality of the jacket. It also makes it a lot easier to wear across both men’s and women’s wardrobes.

2. The stitching on the polka dot version has been driving me insane.

The men’s medium you’re seeing here has brown stitching with the marbled blue buttons — and yes, every jacket will also come with the white buttons.

I love it with the brown stitch. I love it with white. Right now I’m probably going to land somewhere directly in the middle: enough contrast to make it feel special, but not so much that the jacket becomes impossible to wear unless you’re already the kind of man willing to walk around in polka dots.

Which, admittedly, is already asking a lot.

3. Think of this as a button up, I designed it specifically so you can comfortably wear it with absolutely nothing underneath.

Important research.

4. I spent four and a half months developing the buttons.

This is either craftsmanship or a serious personality defect.

5. I cannot explain how tempting it has been having these hanging in my closet for months and knowing I’m not allowed to actually wear them every day because they’re samples.

It feels unnecessarily cruel.

6. One of my Japanese fabric partners now refers to me as “the polka dot man.”

I’m choosing to believe this is an honor.

Anyway — 97%.

The last 3% is apparently where I lose my mind.

I’d probably keep this one a little rambling and personal like this—the obsessive details are what make the product feel real. by @joshua.useldinger

One of God’s greatest gifts in life is the joy of being able to simply exist beside someone and know your in a precious moment - Mickey… you we’re that gift to so many, but to me you were also a little brother, someone I loved and believed in so deeply, and someone I dreamed of adventuring through life with in the years ahead.

My dear friend, you fought the good fight, you pressed into Jesus with everything you could to overcome the mountains in your path, and although your time here has came to an end, for the first time I can have full peace knowing you are exactly where I knew you always longed to be -Fully at peace with Jesus

Mickey was there for almost every monumental moment in my adult life, and was the one of the greatest champions of the dreams God gave me, and I know he was that to so many others as well.

It’s one of the greatest honors of my life to have been able to walk alongside you through the highs and lows of your young journey - but the much greater honor was to just be able to get so much precious time around your radiant heart.

Mickey there are no words to describe how much I will miss you, how much our family will miss you, and I promise I will see forth that the dreams we had together will come to fruition.

Thank you Jesus for giving me a friend like Mickey, and thank you for the time I had with him ❤️ We’ll be worshipping together in heaven next time we meet by @joshua.useldinger

The First Look — The Marleux Featherweight Japanese Chore Shirt

About nine months ago, I set out to develop an incredibly soft, lightweight denim that could drape and look like traditional outerwear, while actually being lighter than a t shirt.

Like many of us, I love the look of heavy utility… but it’s simply too heavy and unwearable most of the year.

The Marleux is lighter than the average t shirt, drapes on the skin beautifully, and is truthfully immensely comfortable.

I’ve loved curved lines since I first started designing garments , and you’ll see that carried through nearly every garment I make. This piece is no exception, and I have to say, I’m immensely proud of how it’s come together.

I’ve only skated a handful of times in the last 12 months which is wild for me to realize, and not too much more in the last 2.5 years…but it was a treat to do a few favorites surrounded by the beauty of the city during fashion week while living here.

Excited to do more do this in the near future 🖤 taken in Paris, France by @joshua.useldinger
