And our last graduate spotlight goes to the beautiful and brilliant Deborah Onuosa! 🎓💻🌸Deborah is graduating from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and is already stepping into her next chapter, where she’ll be working full-time as an IT Specialist.Originally from Nigeria, Deborah truly made her mark here at KU. Throughout her college career, she served as President of GEMS (Gifted, Empowered & Motivated Sisters), she’s served on the board of KU’s National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and she is a Spring 2025 initiate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Chapter! When asked about her favorite KU memory, she says that it’s the late night talks that she’s had with her friends 🥹. Her theme song for this season is Bout U by Rema, such a joyous song for such a joyous person! Congratulations! 💘💘💘 by @joshuasperspective

Today’s Graduate Series spotlight is Jordan Campbell! 🎓🏃🏾‍♂️💙Jordan is graduating with degrees in Business and General Studies with a focus in Liberal Arts & Sciences. And if you think he’s slowing down after graduation, think again. His plans include pursuing a master’s degree in Leadership and Development and eventually attending law school.When reflecting on his time at KU, he says his favorite moments while here have been competing as a KU Track & Field student-athlete, helping rebuild the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. on campus, and mentoring Black youth in the Lawrence community. This graduate post is all about Douglas Jamal! 🎓💙 Douglas is graduating with double majors in Philosophy and Global & International Studies, along with minors in Arabic and Political Science. (King!🤴🏽) After graduation, Douglas will be joining Teach For America as a Corps Member, where he’ll spend the next two years teaching High School English Language Arts before heading off to law school. Reflecting on his time at KU, he says his favorite part was meeting his lifelong friends and engaging in academic rigor.Throughout his time at KU, Douglas has been deeply involved in campus life. He served on the board of the Black Student Union. He also served as President of the Zeta Omicron Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Douglas worked as a Hawk Link Student Specialist, helping students navigate their college experience, and served as a Student Ambassador for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.His theme song Lee & Lovie by Smino & reggie, cause graduating college with all these accolades is indeed lovely! Today, we’re celebrating & congratulating Rebekah Garrett! 💐🎓Rebekah is graduating with not one, but TWO degrees: a B.S.E. in Secondary Education with a concentration in History and Government and a B.G.S. in African and African American Studies.This summer, she’ll begin her journey toward an M.S.E. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in TESOL, and this fall she’ll step into the classroom as a teacher in Kansas City, Kansas. Talk about making moves! When reflecting on her time at KU, Rebekah says: “Aside from receiving a great education from talented professors, my favorite experience was meeting each and every one of my best friends. They all have helped shape me in the best way, and I wouldn’t have them without KU!”On campus, she’s dedicated time to being a Hawk Link Student Specialist, helping students navigate through this big campus as well as being a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Next up, Ibryuana Dickson, who’s earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology! 🎓 When asked about her favorite experience at KU, she says it’s between cheering at the football games or the annual Aux Wars event. Ibry has always been involved on campus, whether it be through The African Caribbean Student Association and Black Student Union; or Melanin Media where she hosted the famous segment “That’s Hot.” She is also a Fall 2025 initiate of the Enchanting Eta Iota Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.! We’re not done yet 🤗 let’s take a moment to celebrate Jorge Aragon Rosas 🎓 Jorge is graduating with a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and a minor in Spanish. Post-grad, he’ll be attending the KU School of Medicine with the goal of becoming the best physician he can be while creating a lasting impact in Wyandotte County.When asked about his favorite experience here, he says it’s the Beta Xi chapter of Phi Iota Alpha where he served as President. Some people leave KU with a degree. This graduate series spotlight is all about Mya Cross, a grad leaving with degrees, businesses and leadership experience.Mya is graduating with degrees in Political Science and Business Administration! After graduation, she plans to continue growing her car customization company, The Auto Kitchen, while studying for the LSAT as she prepares for law school. @theautokitchen (in Overland Park, Kansas) specializes in top tier customization, including starlight headliners, vinyl, wraps, PPF, aftermarket mods, body kits & more! During her time at KU, she served as President of the Phenomenal Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and when asked about her favorite KU memory, bringing in a line. Being able to welcome new members into a sisterhood you love and helping shape the future of your chapter is a moment that stays with you forever. Mya also built a decorating business that has thrived on KU’s campus, so if you need a party decorated most definitely hit her up! Today, we’re celebrating the wonderful Deanna Miller!💙💛Deanna is graduating with a degree in Social Work and isn’t done making an impact just yet, she’ll be continuing her journey right here at KU as she enters the Master of Social Work program!When reflecting on her time at KU, Deanna says her favorite experience was Stomp the Hill. She loved helping plan and support the event, but what stood out most was seeing the community come together and watching all of the hard work pay off.And speaking of accomplishments, let’s talk about excellence! As a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Deanna helped contribute to a chapter that achieved something incredible—being named Chapter of the Year THREE years in a row! 💙💛🐩Deanna has such a beautiful and pure soul, the kind of person who makes others feel seen, valued, and cared for. Social work is such a fitting path for her and I can’t wait to see everything she does! Her theme song for this season is Good Days by SZA because while the troubles don’t last always! Next up in the Graduate Series is the amazing Grace Himpel! 🌎🎓Grace is graduating from the University of Kansas with majors in Environmental Studies and History, and post-grad she’s taking things international once again as she heads to Scotland to pursue an Applied Environmental Science MSc at the University of St Andrews!One of Grace’s favorite experiences at KU was studying abroad in New Zealand, which I knew she was going to say because I’ve watched as she consistently chases new experiences in efforts to see the world; which she fostered through the is Global Awareness Program certification! Grace has served as a Study Abroad Peer Advisor here at KU (which is where we met), and let me just say… one of the BEST coworkers ever. Truly one of the kindest, most supportive, and most genuine people you could meet.Her theme song for this season? you’re gonna go far by Noah Kahan! Could there be a more fitting song? A HUGE congratulations are in order to the wonderful Cortney Mays as he is now HOODED after attaining his MSE in Higher Education Administration! 💙🎓Cortney, or Coach Mays as some may know him, is a man dedicated to the betterment and growth of the Kansas City Community’s youth and the National Panhellenic Council here at the University of Kansas. Post-grad, he plans on being a Regional Marketing Manager—but reflecting on his experience at KU, he says his favorite experience was witnessing and playing a part in the development and growth of the NPHC community, which is thriving! He didn’t tell me this (😒), but I looked him up on Google and his resume is STACKED! Truly inspirational! Here are just a few of his accomplishments and roles: - A Morehouse Man with a degree in Business Administration- Sorority & Fraternity Life Program Coordinator- Advisor of the KU NPHC- Youth Marketing Assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs- Academic Tutor with KU’s Student-Athlete Support Services- High School football & wrestling coach in both Seattle & KC- and of course, a dedicated member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Cap & gown season isn’t over yet! Introducing the Graduate series. Starting off with the beautiful Angelina Monique Kirton-Atkinson! 🤍Angelina is an Environmental studies major, minoring in Geography. After graduating, she plans on either going into Environmental Consulting or becoming an Environmental Project Management Assistant. Angelina came to the University of Kansas all the way from Panama, and she says that one of her favorite memories here is studying abroad in Greece!OVERLY proud of this beautiful graduate.
