OFFERING 1: ahma's gourd 💦
✨Still SHIMMERING with happiness++ from the last days of Lunar New Year shared with Daoism Practice Group. DPG’s qi has quietly shaped my thinking for over 2 years through monthly online gatherings, and at the end of Feb, some members journeyed north ~ meeting in 4D for the first time… BIG VIBRATIONS warming my home & tua mak’s belly!✨

DPG officially began the live programme with ‘OFFERING 1: ahma's gourd’ ~ a water meditation and tea ritual led by @eatdrinkhui, pouring from ahma's gourd - opening into collective reflection on tua mak as the biggest hungry ghost moving through life~death~life: a circulating force, an ecology of entanglement of which we, our ancestors, loves, animals, waters, microbes and nature are all part. Grief becomes cyclical rather than terminal; care ecological rather than individual.

To close, conversation opened out: what spaces can we create for these kinds of rituals? How do we make this relevant daily - not as an exceptional event, but something we practise habitually?

The lineage here comes from Chinese and Daoist tradition - though the point was made: this shouldn't be exoticised. Joon-Lynn built on this beautifully: every person has access to living traditions through blood family, chosen family, community - something genuinely theirs, practised with intention. And as @sebbijh summarised JL so clearly: “white people need not elevate global majority spiritual practices above their own - every human has pre-colonial traditions rooted in land and place. In connecting with these, we find similarities that expose the fallacy of imposed borders.”

🌟Join us on Sat 28 February for a special event in exhibition •~TUA~• 大眼 •~MAK~• by Rae-Yen Song 宋瑞渊🌟

In OFFERING 1: ahma's gourd, •~TUA~• 大眼 •~MAK~• will host Daoism Study Group (present members Joon Lynn Goh, Josie Pearse, Hannah Yu-Pearson), who will gather with Rae-Yen Song for a tea ritual and shared reflection on the exhibition. The group will draw on Daoist logics, hexagrams, and verses from the Dao De Jing, in listening for what the work stirs.

Tea, snacks, and time for audience responses will be offered.

Daoism Study Group is a monthly online gathering of followers of the Dao (the Way), of which Song is a member. Through shared stories, lived experience and reflection, the group explores how the Way moves through life - in relationships and conflict, work and creativity, health, politics, the natural world, and the wider cosmos.
