Do you sleep in safety While they’re coming for our lives? Do you sleep in safety While they criminalize transgender people for being alive? How sound is your sleep While fascists strip protections from the vulnerable and the marginalized? Where do you escape to while they’re coming for our lives? Cognitive dissonance is when you’re a leftist transgender abolitionist looking to the state for support When some psycho delusional transphobe within your own community inflicts violence upon you You’re damned either way you proceed, but at least this way you got a paper trail. Cognitive dissonance is when you’re told you’re loved by your entire community your whole life But when the time comes for people to step up for you They’re either too intimidated, preoccupied, or uninterested in getting involved Demonstrating that you’re worth a damn is a hassle and there’s way too much paperwork How are you supporting transgender people in your life? Do you give a fuck? Are you willing to prove it? Prove it to me? I want you to pull it out.. Show it to me.. Let me see it.. Please.. Wave it around in all of its full glory Show me your support Show me Prove it to me Or do you need more violence for it to be real? Do you need more blood on the streets? Do you need more bloodshed? Do you need more names added to “Transgender Day Of Remembrance”? Do i need to be another tragic headline Another lifeless body found lying next to a dumpster behind your favorite Starbucks? I pray you sleep in safety... I pray you sleep in safety... I pray you sleep in safety... I pray you sleep in safety... I pray you sleep in safety... I pray you sleep in safety... I pray you sleep in safety... I pray you sleep in safety... Nothing fails like prayer Nothing fails like prayer Nothing fails like prayer Nothing fails like prayer Nothing fails like prayer Nothing fails like prayer Nothing fails like prayer Nothing fails like prayer... Introducing our panelists for tomorrow’s FREQUENCIES OF SURVIVAL program! Our first panel (scheduled for approximately 4:45pm) gathers trans women working in nightlife spaces for a discussion of visibility, community, and solidarity in the DJ booth, on the dance floor, and at the afters. We are thrilled to have @ethicaldrvgs @linda__lo__ @journeywithasavage & @weepingwillowtree.34_dj join us for this conversation. Daphne aka EthicalDrvgs is a woman who’s worked many aspects of nightlife from talent to production. Most notable achievement is her work in creating safer working spaces for trans SWers, specifically in the realm of stripping. Through her event Jolene, she’s curated a space for trans women to navigate this field of work safely and in a manner embraced by the mainstream. She’s contributed also to the implementation of harm reduction in warehouse spaces and in efforts of creating opportunities in nightlife for trans women. Linda Lo is a music producer & DJ in Los Angeles. She is from Oakland. Her work spans genres of dubstep, post-dubstep, garage, and club music. She draws on elements of mambo, C-pop, and ancestral veneration. She has releases on labels including NO BIAS, Program Audio, and an upcoming vinyl release on LA label URIEL. Her music is extremely good. Lydia Savage helped found and runs a trans focused rave called trans*cendent. She is focused on creating safe and consensual spaces for trans people to come together and dance without fear of harassment or discrimination. weepingwillowtree is a DJ and digital media conjurer from the high desert of Palmdale. Since 2020, she’s been opening portals on the dancefloor—summoning chaos, catharsis, and pure energy through deconstructed club, hard techno, and sound collage. Her sets unravel like rituals: unpredictable, immersive, and charged with psychic force. Based in LA, she’s become known for using her sonic psionic to deconstruct the club. by @josiewreck
