Jot creates sculptures and installations which address questions of identity and becoming, and explore strategies of adaptation and fluidity.Β  Concerned with memory, Jot is continually looking for intersections of past and present, intimacy and universality, reality and fiction. By valuing the wear and tear - theΒ flaws as well as the perfections - of the used material she works with, she aims at making both humble and extravagant works, precarious yet powerful.Β Her practice is underpinned by an openness to that which remains and that which will inevitably emerge.Β Her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy. is happy to announce πŸ₯ 🐣 Our next exhibition in QUATUOR+1 format will be held from 13 november to 13 december 26. Clémentine Davin and sabine j. sil invite artists Jot Fau and Dialogist-Kantor. The artists chose to explore different ways of enveloping, constraining, displacing, or transforming what already exists. πŸͺ‘ SAVE THE DATE πŸͺ‘ 10 October, 5-9 pm CANTADORA is opening with a new group show titled π‘Šβ„Žπ‘’π‘Ÿπ‘’ π‘‘π‘–π‘šπ‘’ 𝑠𝑒𝑑𝑑𝑙𝑒𝑠, 𝑀𝑒 π‘šπ‘’π‘›π‘‘ presenting for the first time works by Federico Arani (IT, 1995), Golnoosh Heshmati (IR, 1992), Jot Fau (BE, 1987), and Andrea Lo Giudice (IT, 1994). Sound installations, sculptures, and ceramics bring us into a visual and acoustic journey centred on the idea of recovery. By questioning the memories held by certain places and objects the works here presented, destabilise their narratives and histories, giving rise to a new genealogy. The title of the exhibition, π‘Šβ„Žπ‘’π‘Ÿπ‘’ π‘‘π‘–π‘šπ‘’ 𝑠𝑒𝑑𝑑𝑙𝑒𝑠, 𝑀𝑒 π‘šπ‘’π‘›π‘‘ seeks to emphasise this urge to respond: the past appears to be over and irreversible only when we don’t attempt to intervene upon, within, or beneath it. Jot Fau is a multidisciplinary artist. She creates objects, sculptures, installations and assemblages. She also makes clothing as well as costumes for art and dance performances, employing a sculptural approach. As the jury of the BelgianArtPrize 2027 was highly impressed by the quality of the artistic practices presented, it decided not only to select a laureate but also to award three Special Jury Prizes to @jot.fau, @arianeloze and @guywouete. They will be given a group exhibition @museedixelles_museumvanelsene at the end of 2027 (exact date to be confirmed). πŸ“Έ 2: Portrait of Jot Fau (by Laetitia Bica) πŸ“Έ 3: Portrait of Ariane Loze (by Rebekka Deubner) πŸ“Έ 4: Guy Woueté. β€œEn queΜ‚te (des marges fluctuantes)”, sit-in-performance and video-installation, between Molenmuseum De Valk (18th-century windmill) and Bevrijdingsmonument Leiden. 12 banners and 5 performers, paid a minimum of €30 per hour. A little more then a year ago sweet @laetitiabica made these pictures of the jackets I’d made just then. We never really shared them properly and now seemed the right time. This weekend I’m taking some of these and more, as well as some jewerly to a wintermarket in Saint Gilles (rue dethy 57, 2-6pm sat & sun) Feel welcome to visit us there.
