I am so overjoyed to receive the letter that I have been awarded the prestigious Gold Honour Badge from Media Entertainment & Arts Alliance Federal Council. It will be presented in Naarm date TBA. The Gold Honour Badge is the highest award presented @withmeaa for Outstanding Union Activism: exceptional dedication, volunteer work, and time given to championing the Union and its members. Meritorious Service: significant, long term contributions to advocating for colleagues, improving industry standards, and ensuring safety in the workplace.“In a world that tries to silence our voice, minimise our existence, and rebrand or erase our history, I’m so proud to leave an indelible mark as a model, actor, dancer, singer, fitness, humanitarian, unionist, and civil rights activist through the grace of Divinity, mentorships, and on the backs of my ancestors.” “Together there is no more me just we” is a quote from We Family a poem from my book Blacknificense Melanated Poems Vol 1. It has been a privilege to serve over the years as a member, diversity committee, Victorian delegate, Equity Federal Vice President, temporary Acting President, Executive Meeting International Federation Actors Aotearoa NZ hosted @equitynewzealand, @ausunions ACTU Delegate, National Performer’s Committee, Board Member, Australian Delegate/Panelist at @fia_actors World Congress Birmingham UK hosted by @equityuk Together we have accomplished many successes such as record increases in pay, better working conditions around 9 show work week, and maximum performances for swings and ensemble, training programs for delegates, more pay & rights for dancers, focus on AI safeguards, intellectual rights for First Nations, anti-racism training, diversity & inclusivity training, LGBTQIAPN+ training, strong wins for media, musicians, crew, and most importantly no longer working in silo but in solidarity cross-sectionally. Each year we come together to celebrate our achievements. This is a blessed moment to lift our heads from paced work that is sometimes life or death and look at the massive achievements. I’ve been wanting to play since 2006. To share some vulnerable and loving moments with @rrumharas Kala was a joy. There are some many things going on in our world today that we all could draw from. According to legend and the Scottish Tartan Authority, the pattern was brought over to the U.S. in the 1800s by Jock McCluskey, a supposed descendent of outlaw Scottish folk hero, Rob Roy. Jock was quite a character who sympathized with the native people. He befriended folks from many tribes as he worked as a trader. According to stories, the Native Americans with whom he worked prized the heavy Scottish blankets in the MacGregor Red and Black, which they believed—or so the story goes—got its red color from “a sorcerer’s hex, a dye distilled from the spirit blood and ghostly souls of McCluskey’s prey and enemies” and, as a result, was said to bring good luck in battle.
