One year after Virginia Giuffre’s death, remember her voice through the words of journalist Amy Wallace, co-author and ghostwriter of Nobody’s Girl.

Speaking at the International Journalism Festival in Perugia, Wallace reflected on the work of documenting Giuffre’s testimony with accuracy, care, and journalistic rigor.

This excerpt recalls why survivors are so often not believed, and how Jeffrey Epstein allegedly used threats against Giuffre’s younger brother, Sky, to keep her trapped.

Watch Amy Wallace’s full talk on demand on the International Journalism Festival website or YouTube channel.

We were at this year’s International journalism festival in Perugia. 🇮🇹

The panel which left a huge impression on us tackled the topic of media wrongdoings during the reporting on the events tied to the Epstein files.

We wrote an article about it.

We’ve wrapped up our joint panel with the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) at #ijf2026, and it was a truly memorable experience. Three experts from Ukraine shared practical cases with a theater full of colleagues from around the world.

If you couldn’t make it, you can swipe through the slides to see a few key insights or watch the full discussion on the International Journalism Festival’s YouTube channel.

We are grateful for the incredible turnout and look forward to seeing everyone again in Perugia next year. by @journalismfest

Here's a little flavour of what we got up to at the International Journalism Festival 2026. Appearances on panels around news creators, AI, marginalised audiences strategic shifts and more, meetups over coffee and many chance encounters. We gathered as many takeaways as we could for our highlights piece which you can find on the @reutersinstitute website
