My grandma caught me sitting on the couch. She called my name. As I looked up she had an eager smile on her face, “Stay there, I want to show you something,” she said in Kapampangan, my families dialect.

She called for my grandpa and said “Diary.” She sat close to me, one hand on my leg, the other waving for my grandpa to move faster.

He moved slowly, shuffling his feet, one hand in his pocket and the other over his mouth trying to hide a blushing smile.

He sat next to his wife—my grandma, so excited shuffling the pages to get to the place folded in.

“May, 21 1961 5:00 pm at Sta. Rita

This is a well day because I’ve found someone new that I think I would love so much. I’ve learn that she will be my bride if maybe I will be worthy of her love. Her name is Oprecina Patiag, but I prefer to call her Presy. That’s all, and I seen her action that she is very friendly. This occasion is their town fiesta. But I did not say that I love her. I pray that I’ll be worthy for her love. So that’s all I can say for now my dear diary.

‘An (event) that I will never forget’

Billy”

My grandparents sat blushing while I read the entry out loud with their children: my dad, uncle and aunts present.

My grandma didn’t share with me my grandfathers diary collection until she saw how deeply I love journaling as well. How beautiful to hold his diary and share a timeless hobby.

He gave me permission to share this video and the transcription with you 🤍 by @journalwithjas

Thank goodness for flat lay spines like Take A Note and Hobonichi to not only handle the chunk but also flip on itself to find a new zero

My Arian pen has arrived 💖 The most perfect shade of pink: TWSBI Pink Lemonade.

@sassyhobbies so generously traded ink samples with me. While waiting for them I discovered that Colorverse’s 50 States ink collection for Hawaii was PINK!

I think it was meant to be! My late friend said if you ever see anything pink, it’s me saying hi 💖 and one of her favorite places was Hawaii

The perfect match looks to be Wearingeuls Dizzy Scent of Maehwa! Aloha being a very close second.

Did you grab this TWSBI? Which ink would you pair with it? by @journalwithjas

July in my journal ☀️

* you might notice all the white space on one spread 😆 I totally skipped writing in it when I went to take photos but I back filled; I usually don’t leave any blank white space. I’ll either backlog or fill it up with more deco lol by @journalwithjas

My journal spread in @shejournalsalatte traveling journal!

Ube Cold Foam
1/4 cup of heavy cream (I wrote 1/8 in the spread but 1/4 is correct)
1 tbsp condensed milk
A drop of ube extract
Pinch of sea salt

Matcha Latte
4 grams or 2 loose tsps of matcha
40 mls of hot water (165F)
7g or 1 tsp of agave
120 grams or 120 mls oatmilk

If you think you recognize the matchasala image, that’s because yes it is @___bighands stamp. I just doubled the single chair to be a loveseat 🛋️

Edit: all drinks were gifted at my own expense and the use of the stamp illustration is for personal use by @journalwithjas
