Sometimes, trying to create capture content while I’m creating takes away from the joy of sewing. Busy thinking about filming, posting, and everything else instead of simply enjoying the sewing process.

Then there’s life. Life gets busy, complicated, and for me recently very overwhelming then before you know it, the thing I love doing gets pushed to the side.

So I’m taking it one day at a time as I find my Sew Joe again. I’ve been working on this jacket since the summer, and I keep finding something else to add, change, or rework. That’s the thing about being creative… sometimes the hardest part isn’t starting the project it’s knowing when to stop. #creatorsearchinsights I made these pants back in 2023, and like so many of the pieces I sew, they patiently waited for the right moment to be worn.

Fast forward to 2026, and this top was made years later (1 month to be exact 🤣) ended up being the perfect match. Neither piece was created with the other in mind, but together they created exactly the look I had been envisioning. That easy bohemian comfy, yet cute look.

That’s one of my favorite things about sewing your own wardrobe. Every piece has a story, and sometimes that story isn’t finished the day you make it. Sometimes it takes years for the right combination, the right occasion, or the right version of yourself to bring it to life.

I’d say these metalic harem pants are finally having their moment. The pairing of the vintage top at the end is another look waiting for its perfect day. #OOTD #ijustwannadance #fyp #sewing by @journey_sky21

This top was living in my head and I couldn’t figure out how to make it so I did what I had to do and I purchased it, so I can deconstruct it and learn how to make it. It was definitely worth it. Stop scrolling! Turn that old dress into a viral skirt, easy!

I snagged this cheap dress and flipped it using basic sewing skills!

The key is cutting right under the bustline and add either casing for elastic, or if the waist already fits add a new waistband like I did in this video. Look at the finished skirt you won’t even believe this was a whole dress before.
