Join us for a very special event at Snowdrop Studio, as once again I am joined by Abigail McKern, @abigailmckern Olivier award winning actress. We will performing ‘ A Journey through Clay.’ This experience is created to share a journey that has already happened. A life through clay. Memories, reflections, ideas, images, residues, poems that came while hands touched clay and a heart healed. A journey of being with clay as recently featured in Hampshire Life May 2026 edition. @hampshirelifemagazine

Joining Church House, in Medstead @medsteadvillagehall as part of a ‘Garden & Art Experience’ a new addition to the Winchester Garden Festival 2026. As part of your ticket you will have access to the ‘Journey through clay experience’, , the gardens of Snowdrop Studios, where we will be joined by local artists including @andreameakinart and access to Church House gardens, until 6pm. Here you will find stunning displays from perennial borders and established trees to rose gardens. Again within these gardens, just a minutes walk from the studio, you will be able to meet several artists sharing their creations with you at Church House. Both gardens will be open from 2 - 6pm, making it an ideal addition for you pre or post Journey through Clay experience.

You will also have the opportunity to see the launch of a new collection, ‘ Hampshire’ a long horizon. This event will be part of a series of events running on the 26th June throughout Medstead as part of the Winchester Garden Festival. @thewinchestergardenfestival

It’s been a while since I introduced myself and as there are lots of new followers thought a Sunday morning was a good time. I’m Lisa the hands behind Journey through clay. On this account I share a unique story of transformation originating from a converted stable studio in the village of Medstead, near Alton.

Until 2019, my world was defined by a global corporate career and work as an executive coach. However, it was through the tactile wisdom of clay—discovered during a lockdown course in the heart of the Hampshire countryside—that I found a path to healing after the loss of my son and discovered my hands and how they can unlock wellbeing and creativity.
This journey from the boardroom to creating calm, graceful ceramics led to the creation of “Journey through Clay,” a new ritual set and wellbeing guide designed to help others navigate life’s transitions.

If you are in need of creativity, wellbeing and connection to get out of your busy minds, follow along with clay and myself as we journey together.

NEW ARTIST OF THE WEEK - Lisa Stevenson @journeythroughclay

Our window has had another transformation, and this week we’re welcoming ceramicist Lisa Stevenson as our Artist of the Week.
Lisa works with white stoneware and porcelain, creating functional, decorative and sculptural pieces that explore change, connection and the way our experiences shape us.
For Lisa, working with clay is a chance to slow down, listen and be patient. Her work is influenced by her own experiences of grief and the idea that, just like clay, we can be shaped and changed by what happens to us.
Look closely and you’ll find carved lines, textures, softened colours and pieces designed to sit, nestle and belong together. These details aren’t simply decorative. They represent moments of change, connection and the marks that life leaves behind.
There’s something beautifully calm and tactile about Lisa’s work, and photographs really don’t capture all of those little surface details.

See over 300 artists and their studios across Hampshire as we open our doors for @hampshireopenstudio . What could be a nicer way to spend the day than touring around our amazing county, chatting to artists and seeing new creations. All free and on your doorstep.

Follow the pink signs around the county and especially here in Medstead. We hope to see you here with us here, open every day 10-4pm including bank holiday! at Lisa Stevenson Ceramics.

Been really focusing on making this last month, creating and going pieces and colours for my Hampshire collection. It has been good to take a break from social media for a while but felt inspired today to show some progress, for you and to keep me motivated!

This collection is personal to me and it has taken me from the sunny beaches of Kefalonia and bringing back lots of pebbles to a cold winter of making, thinking and feeling a story shared in May’s @hampshirelifemagazine.

The contrast of the cool waters that have shaped these sea pebbles and the heat of the kiln making stone are at the center of the rocks of life collection.

To connect to these pieces up close, come along to @athertongrnart summer show, starting on 6th June a part of the @surreyartistsopenstudios in the wonderful village of Farringdon, Hampshire where many of these will be showing alongside other contemporary artists and sculptors indoor in the gallery and across beautiful gardens.

The gallery will be open Wednesday - Sunday until 21st June and then everyday until 28thJune.

The combination of the wave carving and the deep sea blue if ‘Solent Reach’ colour was perfectly positioned at the hot rocks in Old Portsmouth.

This colour represents the salt heavy blue of the coast, visible only on the clearest of days from the highest point of the downs. It is the colour of the Solent on a choppy day, a place where my love of Hampshire began all those years ago at Portsmouth university. It is the dark heavy shipping lanes viewed from Hurst Spit or the deep waters surrounding the Isle of White.

This colour is the anchor in the collection to Hampshire’s maritime identity and the ‘sea storms’ that pass over Hampshire’s coast.
