Imagine planning a photoshoot in a poppy field. 🌸You visit the location in the morning, everything looks perfect, and since poppies bloom for such a short time, you know you have to act fast.Then, in the evening, when it’s time to shoot and your model has arrived for a paid project, you realize the poppies are gone. Completely gone. 🥹That moment when you know you have no choice but to move forward because cancelling isn’t an option.That moment when Plan B has to take over.🫢The kind of moment that reminds you to grow as a creative and accept that not everything is within your control. Sometimes nature has plans of its own.While editing these images, I caught myself thinking:Well, everyone has photographed red and purple poppies. Today I turned 37 🧚🏼‍♀️The funny thing is, I still feel 27. I still get excited about the little things, the unexpected moments, and the magic hidden in everyday life.🎂 I’ve always loved celebrating birthdays because they remind me of something extraordinary: this was the day I arrived here to live. 3 Mistakes I Wish I Knew Before Photographing in Water 💦Mistake #1: Choosing lakes and rivers instead of a controlled setupWhen I first started shooting in water, I always used lakes and rivers. The problem? Water covers a huge area, and everything moves constantly.Now I prefer using a bathtub or even a small inflatable pool.Why?✔️ Better control over the model’s movement✔️ Flowers and props stay where I place them✔️ Less unwanted drifting and repositioning✔️ A much cleaner, more polished final imageSometimes the simplest setup creates the best results.Mistake #2: Forgetting the essentialsIn the beginning, I focused so much on the creative side that I forgot about the practical side.Always bring:🧺 Towels👕 Extra clothes🧥 Warm blankets or robesYour model’s comfort and health come first. A relaxed model will always create better images than someone who is cold and uncomfortable.Think ahead, especially if your location is remote or the weather is unpredictable.Mistake #3: Not explaining the concept before going underwaterThis is a big one.Once the model is underwater, they can’t hear your directions.
