The Bramble Smock by @pleasantsmade is the perfect piece to take you into the cool weather months. I have been enjoying wearing my smock with all my favourite dresses, it helps bridge the gap between seasons and within my handmade wardrobe. This pattern is really well drafted, I did not have to make any modifications when sewing, and includes very detailed instructions.

The Daughter or Aronia Dress by @mirandarileydesigns is always a winner. It's adorable in every season, fits so well, and my daughter loves the design. Perfect for wearing to church on Sunday, or to play at the beach. I have made three so far for my daughter and just bought some cozy flannel to make a winter version for her using the long sleeve view of the pattern.

I don't want to admit how many times I have worn this outfit this fall, but let's just say this has become a favourite. 🍂

I love the Teaberry Bloomers by @mirandarileydesigns and how very versatile they are. They look especially nice with a pretty cottage-core blouse, and bring whimsy to what is typically a fairly boring but necessary item in a wardrobe.

The blouse is the Vesta pattern by @schultzapparel, hacked into a blouse. I cut the bodice as per the pattern, but instead of the skirt I did a ruffle hem using the width of the skirt pattern pieces as the guide. Other changes I made were to add a ruffle to the neckline and use elastic in place of ties for the sleeves. I love the comfort of this blouse and since it goes with a lot of different well loved pieces in my me-made wardrobe it has fast become a well worn favourite.

This was a favourite outfit for me this past summer, especially during our Prince Edward Island trip in August.

The Honeycomb top by @genuinelyempatterns is cool and breezy when sewn in cotton voile and was very comfortable to wear during our roadtrip, and yet the little smocked details and bow made me feel put together and classy even when camping!

I wore my Teaberry Bloomers by @mirandarileydesigns almost every day of our trip as they were perfect for beach walks, layering on windy days, and for keeping mosquitos out in the evenings (the drawstrings at ankles got lots of use!). They could also be worn up above the knees with drawstrings cinched for when playing in the waves and walking along the shore. The most comfortable and versatile pair of pants I own, cannot recommend this pattern enough. Every wardrobe needs a pair of Teaberry Bloomers.

The Vesta dress by @schultzapparel is now live! Another gorgeous, timeless design. This pattern has three different unique views. I sewed view C which includes puffed sleeves that have bow drawstrings, and a neckline that has a drawstring channel to create a unique bow closure at the neckline at the back of the dress. The statement design feature of the Vesta dress is the waist tie that is wrapped twice around the waist in a unique way to create a flattering and also size forgiving silhouette. I love that this pattern does not require any fiddly closures or elastic! It fits like a dream and is so comfortable to wear. I can't wait to sew the other views of the Vesta and know this is a pattern that I will enjoy sewing many more times!

The perfect skirt for twirling 🫶

Asymmetric Ruffle Skirt by @yoursara_k by @joy.inthemaking

The Asymmetric Ruffle Skirt by @yoursara_k is a design that stands out in the sewing world. I have not seen anything quite like it before. It is a breeze to sew up, and so much fun to wear! I love wearing skirts in fall/winter, as when paired with wool socks and a sweater they can become quite cozy. When the weather gets especially cold I just add some leggings underneath.

The Anna top by @tinyfolkpatterns is a lovely timeless design. It comes together quickly and is effortless to style and wear. With just 3 pattern pieces, it really is a simple sew, and in just 1-2 hours you can be wearing and enjoying your new top! This is a beginner friendly pattern.

This top filled a wardrobe need for more workwear uniforms and so I have already got a lot of use out of it since I finished sewing it.

The Assymetric Ruffle Skirt pattern by @yoursara_k is now live! ✨

This is a beginner friendly pattern that is very simple to make, and yet leaves you with a very striking and unique garment to wear. The pattern has clear and detailed instructions, and also includes a video sew along to help ensure the smoothest sewing experience possible. I really appreciate the tips that are provided to help even the beginner sewist achieve a professional and quality end look. It comes in two views, view A which I have sewn here with the high-low ruffle tier effect, and view B which has a diagonal skirt line. I sewed this version in a soft rayon fabric I got from @fabricland.canada.
Stay tuned for my next version...

The Dove Cardigan by @samanthamariedesign is such a fun design. This pattern is designed for knit fabrics and is a very quick sew. It is perfect for transitioning summer outfits to fall/winter. I like the design of this top as it stays on well and is easy to put on as it doesn't have any complicated closures. This was my first Samantha Marie Design pattern to sew, but it won't be my last, as it was an enjoyable sew thanks to the detailed and clear instructions provided.

(If you have noticed a theme in my daughter's outfits as of late...she is very into the colour pink 🩷 💗)

I had the pleasure of testing the newly released Dolly pattern by @bebekinspatterns. This pattern can be sewn as a top, dress, or baby romper. It is such a sweet design, my daughter loves wearing it as it is comfortable and fits really well. It is perfect for hot summer days, but can also be worn over an undershirt for the cooler months. I highly recommend Bebekins Patterns if you have a little person in your life you are sewing for. Her patterns are clear and well designed so that the garment sewn will fit well if you follow the sizing chart, and will be sure to be loved by your little one.

It is such a pleasure to share another one of @milaonnipatterns wonderful patterns. This is the Eira Tree Skirt and Cape, a heirloom quality pattern that can be a tree skirt, a cozy cape, or anything you want or imagine it to be!

We absolutely LOVE Christmas time in our home, and so I went all in to create a Christmas tree skirt that we will treasure for years to come. 🎄

My children and I really enjoy the books by author Jan Brett, especially around Christmas time, as her illustrated version of the Night Before Christmas is truly magical. Her beautiful artwork was my inspiration for this Christmas tree skirt. I used red velvet and blue corduroy for the patchwork, and added some decorative trim to highlight the star shape. Sewing one of Mila's patterns is always balm for my soul as I find it to be such a peaceful creative process thanks to her beautiful and detailed instructions. A very enjoyable sew and now we have an heirloom Christmas decoration that I hope will be a part of our family traditions for years to come ❤️
