8 - i made this playlist to keep my eyes on the finished work of the cross during birth. We started playing it when we got to the birth center and our baby was born right at the start of the last song. I could not have timed that if I tried. I remember wondering if I had enough songs in there and feeling like the Lord said it was done. So cool. by @joy.roussin

Objectively, I’d say we’ve crammed about 10 years of life into two years. And I’m not sure I recommend that. But it’s been fun.

I didn’t even know these photos existed until a couple days ago, but I will treasure them forever. This was the first time I met Charlie.

You have to understand, Charlie Kirk was a celebrity in the Wallnau house. This made my entire year in 2021.

This photo was taken moments before Charlie would say in an interview with my dad, “I am willing to sacrifice everything I have for God’s purpose on earth.”

Those words carry such weight now.

I feel challenged and provoked by the way Charlie lived his life. He sought the truth, and told the truth. He lived each day with intentionality. He viewed courage as a choice, and chose it daily. He reorganized my priorities so building a family took precedence over chasing a career, a decision that has made my life exponentially richer. He faithfully stewarded his gifts, filled his days more than I know to be humanly possible, and recognized the importance of civil conversation - especially with those who see the world differently. Something our country needs.

His wife Erika, is someone I deeply admire. I have always had great respect for her, but I am so moved by her response to this nightmare. The way she has, amidst the grief and unimaginable pain, pointed to the cross, and modeled forgiveness is stunning evidence of a living God. Erika Kirk, you are the real deal.

I’ve struggled to just go back to life as usual after this. Something in me hungers for God a little more than it did before and aches to see my generation encounter Him. I can only pray my death stirs the same thing in those I leave behind.

If your spirit is dead but the rest of you is thriving, you’ll still feel dead.

Been going back to basics lately. Treating food like medicine, lessening my screen time and spending more time in natural light. Focusing on bioavailable minerals. Those things will change your life!

But none of them supplement the love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control that come from knowing and communing with the living God.

A healthy being starts with a healthy Spirit.
