On the 5th of November 2022, I successfully graduated from @bowenuniversity College of Law, and I'm pleased to say that i made it to the first class list.
Indeed dreams do come true.
The journey of 5 years finally came to an end and I must say it wasn't an easy ride as everything kept changing, but one thing remained constant; God's promises concerning my life and my academics.
I'm grateful for this 5 years experience and it is one that would forever stay with me.
I'll like to dedicate this degree to God Almighty and to my parents. If not for them I wouldn't be who I am today.
Special thanks goes to all the wonderful lectures and course mates at @bowenuniversity College of Law.
I'm also grateful to everyone that cheered me on, prayed for me and watched me during this 5 years journey.

Wrote this piece after reading 'My Participation' by Bisi Akande.
My Participation is a Biography of Bisi Akande and it gives an expository of his Political Journey and as the name implies his Participation in the politics of Osun State.

What baffled me while reading through this book was that decades after the events written in this book took place very little has changed in the politics of Nigeria. The corruption, nepotism, godfatherism and appointment of unqualified persons into power is the same as it was if not worse.

Many people have risen and contested the authenticity of the version of events stated in this book, but as we all know, there are two sides to a story. The book being the biography of the author we can say that this is his own side of the story and everyone is entitled to his own story, whether true or not.

This book also delved into the history and territories of the Yoruba's. As a young yoruba girl (Oyo/Kwara) still learning about her roots and history, I found this book quite expository. For example I've heard many versions of what took place in Kwara State between the Fulani's and the Yoruba's. This book gave an in-depth explanation on the event. It also stated the faults Old Oyo Empire and other Youruba Empires who could have assisted their brothers in Kwara State at that time.

All in all this was a good read. I'll give it a 7 and not a 10 just because I also didn't agree to everything stated in the book as the author painted himself as someone faultless most of the time.
But again, it's his biography.

The piece i wrote is a reflection of our past and maybe a visionary of what is to come.
It was also inspired by the events of 20/10/2020 Lekki Massacre.

MY LIBERTY

In my journey to attaining liberty and being my own person
I remembered a few things I did when I was young
How I craved for some things so badly
Sometimes I indulged my desires with careless abandon of the consequences
But sometimes I ignored

I've often wondered how I'd turn out
I wondered if my values would change as I attained "this liberty"

Just like every other person
I've fought my demons
Some I won
Some I lost

My confidence is not born out of my achievements but out of the many times I fell and had no choice of staying down
I've learnt to pick myself up as though I was never down

Refined like Gold through Fire
I've grown to make my own decisions
My values and priorities are born out of what I've been through and what I aim to be

Still on this journey to attaining "this liberty"
My Liberty
I can say I turned out better than I had envisioned

Still wanting but not with careless abandon.
