Joy Bomb Social Center is going solar...and we wanna take the neighborhood with us! ☀️ As the climate catastrophe worsens, the need for a neighborhood space that is off-grid and able to meet our basic needs as a community, is critical.

The region-wide power outages resulting from the recent storms are just one more example of the need for a solar powered, community run, autonomous mutual aid hub, like Joy Bomb. We could be the first such place in NWI. With your help.

Beyond Joy Bomb, your donation is seeding the growth of a future neighborhood solar grid project with our building as the proof of concept, fundraising, and learning hub for expanding solar into our area.

Your gift supports panels, batteries, and wiring that cut our dependence on fossil fuels and keep our doors open for our community during outages. ☀️ Every contribution goes directly into the purchase of a solar kit / materials so Joy Bomb can both demonstrate the feasibility of energy independence.

Any extra money raised will be put into purchases that make batteries and solar chargers available to our neighbors, showing how we could communalize solar power.

On Sunday, you helped us Fill the Clown Car — and you absolutely delivered.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, said hello, shared some joy, and donated non-perishable food, household supplies, and everyday essentials for our neighbors in Gary, Indiana with @joybombsocialcenter

Every bag, box, can, bottle, and bundle represents someone choosing to show up for their community. And that is exactly what the Sisters are all about.

We are so grateful to everyone who donated, helped spread the word, volunteered their time, and supported this effort. You helped turn a little clown car into a whole lot of community care.
