Words from my heart, so be gentle 🫶🏻

One year ago today I woke up with a clear mind, body, heart and soul. I never looked back. It was today, one year ago, I made the decision to become sober for MYSELF. Choices like this always start with YOU, and are selfish to a point. But when supplemented with love and support, these choices and decisions can become your new reality. I am blessed to have both. 🙏🏻

The who, what, where, when, and why are truly no one’s business but my own. So let the rumors fly, because at this point I’ve heard them all! And let me tell you, they’ve all given me a good laugh over this year, so at the very least, thanks for that! 😅

The realization was that alcohol no longer served me in ANY way. It did not make me more fun, it did not calm my anxiety or “take the edge off,” and it most certainly wasn’t helping my health; mental or physical. I had my fun with it and respect and appreciate anyone who can enjoy it responsibly! 👍🏻

I am not putting this out there for a pat on the back or a “congrats” and “good for you.” My hope is that one day we can normalize sobriety like society has normalized drinking. By no means am I hating on those who enjoy a beverage…lord knows I did! I get it. You keep on doing you! No judgement here. I, and those who choose not to participate in having an alcoholic beverage, just ask that we get the same in return. 😘

One thing I have learned over this past year is that this journey is one I take day by day. It is unrealistic for me to say “I am NEVER having alcohol again.” I don’t know what the future holds for me. Who does? All I know is that today, right now, I don’t need it and I don’t want it. 🚫

Survival. Comfort. Reassurance.

Our vet always jokes that Bon, who is one of three precious pups in our pack, is the poster pup for Trupanion. It is only because of Trupanion he is walking with a normal gait, without pain, and continues enjoy life with his brothers.

In December 2025, we were on the dock like any other day getting Bon’s laps in at the pool. As he was coming up the ramp out of the pool, something was not right. His back legs were out in space, and he had no idea how to use them. Crisscrossing, showing no pain, paw dragging. After an MRI and a few consults with different Neurologists, it was determined that he had a severe slipped disc that needed to be fixed.

Fast forward to March 2026, we traveled to Michigan where he had surgery and a week long stay at BluePearl Pet Neurology Farmington. It’s been a long road to recovery, but through weekly PT and acupuncture and at home exercises (thank you @pinewoodsanimalhospital ), you would never know he had an issue. We are even able to get him back to his favorite place, the pool!

No more dock diving as he is now retired, but he can at least enjoy some laps around the pool chasing his bumper! It was only because of Trupanion we were able to do ANY of this for him. And I am so thankful, everyday, I decided to cover ALL my boys under Trupanion.

USTA REGIONALS 🎾

A fun, hot, sweaty weekend with the best group of ladies; representing Buffalo and battling it out against the best of Rochester, Syracuse and Binghamton ☀️🥵🎾 I was chosen to play first singles for all THREE matches, no pressure 😅 Pulled out 2 of 3 W’s with the last match being the most challenging, of course 🤪 2.5 hours long and a tie break to win it 😮‍💨 I was tested physically and mentally all weekend, but knowing I had my String Courtets in my corner along with family and friends, challenge accepted! 💪🏻 Win or lose, it was a very rewarding weekend competing against lovely lady opponents, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the String Courtets! 💙🖤 Game, set, match for 2026, baby! 🫶🏻

Happy 2nd birthday to our baby golden goober, Gunnar! 🧡 Of course, in true birthday celebration traditions, he visited the @buffalobarkery to get all the love and goodies! 🥰 He was treated to a pup cup, pupcake, a chance to pick out his new toy, lots of treatos for the PAWfect picture, and even shopped for his brothers and cousins who were waiting at home to celebrate! 🎉🍪🧁 When everyone thought I was crazy for bringing another little potato home just 1 year after Beau, I can safely say two years later, I regret nothing; he completes our pack 🥹 Our own little sour patch kid, who makes us laugh with his derpiness, daily. 😅 We love you, Gunnar guy! 😘

The love of our sweet Sonny’s life, Miss. Piper, joined him on the other side of the rainbow bridge on Friday 🌈 It was love at first sight for these two through a sliding glass door in Michigan, and I’m confident they are rolling around pinning each other like Simba and Nala, once again 🥹 These two together brought many laughs with their continuous shenanigans, a couple moments of panic when they ran rampant through the woods, and the love they showed each other was undeniable. But their kindred spirits also brought me my dear friend, sister from another mister, Michigander twin, Piper’s furmama…@marie.burpee 🫶🏻 Whether she wanted me and Sonny or not, there was no separating these two furbabies and we weren’t going to try 💟 Justin and I were blessed to able to say goodbye to Piper on our last trip to Michigan and give her lots of love and pets, with her younger siblings too of course (the hoomans were nice too). Although I would give anything to bring them both back, it brings such peace they are together again; loving us and watching over us from doggy heaven 💙🪽💖 Rest easy precious Piper girl, you will be missed and loved forever 🐾 by @joyous1821
