Follow these easy steps to create a bed of hydrangeas this fall 🍁
Your preparation this season will result in beautiful blooms next spring.
I chose Wee White Hydrangeas from @greatgardenplants to add to my part-sun garden bed. These quickly mature in 2-3 years, and their blooms will shine bright-white above a sea of ferns. I can’t wait to show you all the update in 2027🤩

Fall is the perfect time to plant a new garden bed, or renovate an old!
This part sun garden bed is more of a random mix of plants that I’ve collected over the years and is needing form and repetition.
I’ll be rearranging existing plants and adding Invincibelle Wee White 2.0 Hydrangea, Stay Classy Sand Cherry and Maidenhair ferns.

Have you ever made a shopping mistake ? I decided to withhold planting winter creeper as it is listed as a highly invasive plant. Cultivars are supposed to be safe, but evidently in the right growing conditions they can revert to their original genetics and spread uncontrollably. We already have an English ivy problem, don’t need another garden drama!

I’ll be using Feather Falls carex for evergreen color instead.

Tip: always check the crowns of your nursery plants. You will find some containers contain multiple plants in one!

This pot has 9… that’s <$3 per plant, which is significantly cheaper than standard nursery pricing! I’ll be filling this pollinator corner for CHEAP this fall

All of my irises died from fungal rot… 😩

So instead of giving up on this space, I’m giving it a fresh start. 🌱

I removed the old, infected soil, added fresh soil mixed with poultry grit for sharper drainage, and replanted with new irises.

I’m hopeful these steps will result in years of beautiful irises, even with Georgia’s rainy seasons

I selected irises from @schreinersgardens that all have a similar look, but bloom at different periods in the spring, so that the show lasts for as long as possible!
