Here is a little sneak peak of my process preparing for a birth and some of the goodies I pack in my Mary Poppins bag. Tell me what you think💭🤰🏽👶🏽#schenectadydoula #518doula #capitalregiondoula #letsdoulathis by @joysouldoula

I’m so happy for my friend Julianna @j_demii and her family’s newest addition! I’m honored to be their doula and we are all looking forward to seeing this little munchkin in the new year! They deserve all of the love, blessings, and favor this little one is going to bring! Jules decided to wait to reveal the baby’s gender until birth! How gemini of her ♊️ I absolutely love that we all get to be surprised, how magical✨💙👶🏽💗✨I can’t wait 🧑🏽‍🍼🤰🏽#thirdtrimesterloading by @joysouldoula

I’m feeling grateful for the community I’ve been a part of and helped to create for the last five years. I’m feeling grateful for all that I have learned, given, sacrificed, and even the mistakes I’ve made. I’m feeling grateful for all the babies’ cries I’ve heard, the little hands and feet I got to touch, and the beauty I witnessed that is womban 💫🌸🌺🌷💃🏽🧞‍♀️🤰🏽

Taking a much needed break from my doula and CLC work to fill my own cup and see and feel my own beauty 🌳🪞☕️

Prepping some beef stew, chia pudding, and smoothies for a postpartum mama! 👩🏻‍🍼👩🏽‍🍼👩🏿‍🍼 I’ve been doing a bit more postpartum doula work these days and it is in perfect alignment with my life. It’s also a real treat to hang out with mom and sweet, little, cute, babies as they grow 🙏🏽✨

Its 2024, many insurances are now offering coverage and reimbursement for doula services. If you are looking for support, reach out to your insurance and inquire! 🥰 #bless by @joysouldoula

Bri’s Birth ❄️ Bri was by far one of my most confident clients. She was ready, she knew what she wanted, and she was well informed about all the possibilities of labor and felt flexible. Every time I take the journey with a mama, her energy is always indicative of where I am at in my life or the energy that is most helpful, and I am grateful for that thus far because that is what alignment is—knowing that whoever and whatever crosses your path is exactly meant for you, a blessing or a lesson.

I felt equally prepared for Bri’s birth and confident. After four years of practicing as a doula, I went into Bri’s birth with my wings, with the intention focused on what Bri wanted, a vaginal, unmedicated birth in the hospital. And she did just that!!!

I took my CLC exam between 7-9 centimeters in the break room, talk about stress 😭 but I passed it🥳 And Bri had the longest pushing session of any of my clients at 2.5 hrs long 😱😵‍💫💫 I don’t wish that on anyone, I know it was the hardest thing she had to do in her life. But she was absolutely committed to the course and surrounded with love and support from me, mama, daddy, and great nurses.

Video’d here: movement, breathing, affirmations, massage, not video’d challenging moments, pushing support on the toilet, a lot of encouragement in active labor and reminders of what she wanted, bath time, irritability bc wtf is this pain 🤷🏽‍♀️ and finally baby boy 👶🏻👏🏽

Bri, I hope your bundle of joy brings you and your family all the love and blessings you deserve✨You are so worthy and such an inspiration for all mamas/beings out there. Thank you for letting me in on your most sacred passage of life🙏🏽🥂 Cheers to you! #doula #doulalife #browndoula #latinxdoula #518doula #capitalregiondoula #schenectadydoula #birthdoula #postpartumdoula by @joysouldoula

Been getting whispers to sit with my herbs, touch earth and make things with my hands…looking forward to answering the call and returning back to my connection with the all giving, mama earth in this upcoming season. These are just a small batch of herbs I grew, harvested, and dried - and are now burning in ritual. Sage. Lavender. Mugwort. Basil. Cinnamon. 🌱

Giving blessings at the same time for my next laboring mama, baby boy will be making his debut any day now💙🦋👩🏽‍🍼

Postpartum is where the real work begins, where the rubber hits the road. This time is a sacred bonding period between mama and baby, while they are both learning and coping with their new life together. Support is integral during this transition. Thank you Amie for asking for what you need because sometimes that feels really hard and allowing me in to care for you. 💕🙏🏽✨ #postpartumdoula #doula518 #schenectadydoula #capitalregiondoula #first40days by @joysouldoula
