6 months postpartum tomorrow.

I love being a mother. I’m learning how to take on this role and running parallel along that journey is finding out who I am all over again.

Lately, I have been feeling stagnant and foreign in my own body. I look at my son and I know then who I am, but when I look at my own reflection, I don’t know who that is.

I suppose it comes with the territory of parenthood, with each new phase in life we’re pushed in front of that mirror of self reflection, and this is where I’m at currently.

However challenging it may be though, seeing my son’s smile in the morning, there’s just no other feeling that comes close. In my mind, there is no other word to describe it but holy.

Still, I’m starting to feel a yearning to create again, but for whatever reason, that yearning isn’t pulling me towards my sewing projects anymore, and it’s been much harder to pick up where I left off with my sewing than it is with baking.

So I picked up Claire Saffitz’s cookbook #dessertperson and I’ve never been more inspired to create, to bake, and to share with anyone and everyone!

So here is Saffitz’s Peach Melba Tart.
Difficulty level: 4 challenging

10/10 in taste, presentation and directions (thank you for that, Claire!)
I definitely learned so much with this dessert alone.

I have to admit though, I’ve had a major girl crush on Claire Saffitz. I’ve been following her since her time at Bon Appetite, her Gourmet Makes episodes, and now her own show! I can’t get enough of them… so I’m incredibly biased.
I would also like to add that I’m not a world renown food critic… (obviously).

But it’s a hit with my niece and she’s my personal food critic. by @joyus65
