I had the wonderful pleasure of working my first band camp ever with the Petoskey High School tenors and rest of their drumline. I can’t express how proud I am of these students as this was the first time they put the full show on the field in a few years. The kids put so much effort and pride in their work, it was amazing to see them grow not only as musicians and friends, but as leaders of the Northmen. I wish the best of luck to them for the rest of the season, and that they continue their musical careers. taken in Petoskey High School by @jp_stank15

2024 wow what a YEAR.
This has been an extraordinary experience for me so here’s a couple of highlights
1-2, I took a trip to document as much of the Norfolk Southern Chicago Line, former NYC Territory, and covered about 65 miles worth of track in 10 hours of light. So here’s a shot from the beginning and end of that.
3-4, I had some incredible performances with my good friends in the winter semester, which included the studio buying seats for Dave Mety who arranged one of our pieces. Incredible work.
5, Scotland was an eye opening experience and was lots of fun with the pipe band. I look forward to returning soon!
6, Highland Fest with my siblings
7, Trombone Shorty show at Meijer Gardens, hat was indeed signed
8-9, experiences at Alma during the summer, that picture of the sky is actually Hurricane Beryl slowly dying over Michigan
10, more time with friends on the Chicago Line, Ogden Dunes, Indiana
11, I was not slacking at work
12, band camp
13, biking around Mackinac
14, enjoying ice cream and a sunset with the drumline
15, fall break railfanning sunset in Durand
16, chasing the 1225 at high speeds all the way to Cadillac!
17, the best drumline duo there is.

“Uncharted Territory”
12/26/2024
This would be the first appearance of CSX 1850, the L&N Heritage locomotive, on train L303. We would chase the train from Grand Rapids to Lansing, Michigan, gathering numerous shots and meeting new people along the way. A full video of this chase on the Plymouth Subdivision will be available on YouTube in the coming week.

A trip to Stanley’s Market in Toledo prompted this side quest. After hearing the Savannah & Atlanta heritage was in town (on 27G) I decided to take advantage of the longest piece of continuous straight track in North America, stretching between Toledo, OH and Butler, IN, about 68 miles. After making the trip out to Swanton, I thought I had missed the 27G as it was reported in Toledo about 40 minutes prior to my arrival. However, due to some sort of curfew on the number one main, the S&A heritage slowly but surely made a crawl up the hill before stopping at CP 307 in Swanton. Thus giving a little more light to a very snowy day.
