Well… I signed up for the Baltimore Marathon a little over two weeks ago, fresh off HYROX prep. Marathon training? Not so much. 😂

The farthest I’d ever run was a half marathon in 1:56:36, so I was excited,
and terrified.

This year has been the hardest of my life, physically and mentally. The marathon became about so much more than 26.2 miles.

My goal was 4:30, though I would’ve been thrilled with anything under five hours. I started with a 10:00 first mile, stayed consistent with fueling, trusted my body, and gradually picked up the pace. After the halfway point, I decided to stay on the gas and deal with the consequences later. Somehow, the blow-up never came.

At mile 20, I started crying. It finally hit me: I was actually going to do this. After everything this year had thrown at me, I was about to crush a goal that had seemed nearly impossible just weeks earlier.

Finishing the last “downhill” mile at a 7:50 pace was unreal.

26.2 miles. Two weeks of prep. A whole lot of doubt, pain, and determination. Finished at 4:05:09

Even during the hardest year of my life, I’ve watched friends endure even harder seasons. Their strength, determination, and faith in the Lord have inspired me to keep going and show up every day.

Sometimes, you’re capable of far more than you realize. You just have to trust yourself enough to find out.

Started the weekend strong, taking 4th place in the Mixed Relay Friday night. 🔥

Then things got a little more interesting Saturday night my second race of the weekend and Jake’s THIRD. We jumped into Pro Men’s Doubles with a “fuck it, send it” attitude and a goal of breaking 1:10.
