Took a pre-game walk through the streets of Anfield and felt the weight of 130+ years of history.
Seeing the murals of local icons like Robbie Fowler and Missy Bo Kearns (the first LFC Women’s player to get her own!) right next to all-time greats like Ian Rush and Mo Salah is what makes this club special.

Swipe to see the handiwork of @paulcurtisartwork and @murwalls - and see the artwork focusing on the legends who built this glorious club

My Osaka journey began beneath the majestic rooftops of Osaka Castle, where centuries of history whispered through golden eaves and autumn leaves.
Not far away, I found myself standing before the open jaws of the lion-shaped hall at Namba Yasaka Shrine. Well what a sight and what an aura! It is said that the lion will swallow all bad luck and offer you courage for what comes next in your world.
Moving into the city’s creative heart, Amerikamura dazzled with its street art, fashion, and a surprising Statue of Liberty, pulse of young energy and vivid walls wherever you look. The daisy mural was proof that Osaka can turn any ordinary corner into a reason to smile.

With the sun dipping low, I dove into Kuromon Market where it gets very to find yourself swept up in the energy of lanterns, food stalls, and friendly chaos. Truly a marketplace where every flavor tells its own story.
The Dotonbori River genuinely sparkles under the evening lights as boats and barges drift by and the Glico Running Man’s neon glow called me into the heart of Minami, Osaka’s entertainment district. The kaleidoscopic signs and laughter bouncing over the water reminded me that travel was about movement, energy, and discovering new flavors and sounds.
As night deepened, Shinsekai’s retro vibe and bustling eating streets took over. Neon signs, kushikatsu stalls, and all the nostalgia of Osaka’s ‘New World’ filled every corner.
It was a nice reminder that every landmark, flavour and surprise can turn a day’s wandering into cool memories and new inspiration.

Right in the vibrant heart of Dotonbori, I spotted something incredibly captivating among all the neon lights!
Among the famous Glico Man and Kani Doraku signs, there’s a massive, mesmerizing billboard featuring an Akita Inu dog. The dog wasn’t in an outfit; instead, it was animated, playfully chasing a light inside a cool blue room! It adds such a charming, dynamic touch to the bustling, energetic atmosphere of the district!
For the best vantage point, head to the Ebisubashi Bridge (right next to the Glico Man sign). That’s the perfect vantage point to catch this playful pup, who appears on screen every 15 minutes!
It’s these little details that make exploring Osaka so much fun. If you’re wandering through Dotonbori, keep an eye out for this sweet face!

A hidden gem in the heart of Osaka! I stumbled upon the incredibly unique Namba Yasaka Shrine, and I’m so glad I did. It was my absolute favourite shrine I visited in all of Japan! It is famous for its massive, lion-headed stage which is a breathtaking sight and its uniqueness is unlike any other shrine I’ve visited.
It’s believed that when you say your prayers at this shrine, the open mouth of the lion head “swallows” evil spirits and brings good luck, especially for success in business and personal development.
If you’re exploring the Namba area, this peaceful and vibrant spot offers some fantastic photo opportunities and a moment of tranquility away from the bustling city streets. A definite must-visit!

Stepping back in time at the majestic Osaka Castle grounds!
This iconic landmark is breathtaking in person and a must-see when visiting Japan.
Whilst I didn’t go inside the main keep this time, just taking time to walk around the vast castle park and snapping photos was an incredible experience. The architecture is stunning, and the serene gardens offer a perfect escape in the heart of the city. There’s so much history simply walking these paths where samurai once roamed during the tumultuous Warring States period!
Highly recommend adding a walk through these beautiful grounds to your Japan itinerary!

A prehistoric adventure and a jump into the Mushroom Kingdom! My trip to Universal Studios Japan was absolutely incredible, splitting my time between the lush landscapes of Jurassic Park and the vibrant, immersive world of Super Nintendo World.
The thrill of the Flying Dinosaur ride was unmatched, but nothing beats the pure fun of racing in real life on the Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge ride! The attention to detail in both areas is mind-blowing.
If you’re a fan of either franchise, you need to add USJ to your bucket list! Which world would you explore first? Let me know in the comments!

After a non-stop day at Universal Studios in Osaka, it was time to wind down the day with a trip up into the sky on that incredible escalator in the Umeda Sky Building for some stunning night views. Worth every step! (Well, figuratively speaking anyways, because I definitely just stood on the escalator as it took me up to the top)

Capping the night with a drink and this breathtaking Osaka skyline was the perfect way to wind down a full-on day! This view from the top of the Umeda Sky Building is pure magic when paired with a whiskey highball and cloudless skies

I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my final full day exploring Kyoto than to experience the contrast between the bright and the dark!
The day started with a vision of perfection at Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion. #Photographers, this spot is a dream! I managed to get a great shot with the top two floors, draped entirely in brilliant gold leaf, reflecting perfectly on the tranquil moat surrounding the temple.
Later in the day, I ventured across town to the Kennin-ji temple and the dramatic contrast within Hatto Hall! From the bright gold outside to the dimly lit, intense interior focusing on monumental ink art. The massive Twin Dragons on the ceiling are powerful, and it feels like one of them is watching you as you move through the hall.
Experiencing these two opposite ends of the spectrum opulent nature and dramatic Zen ink made my final full day unforgettable.

The nerd in me has been awoken! I was incredibly lucky to visit the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, and it was an unforgettable experience.
It brought back so many memories of starting my Nintendo journey at age 10 with the NES. My first games were Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda and Tetris on the handheld Game Boy too.
It’s incredible to think that Nintendo is over 100 years old! Nintendo started way back in 1889 as a company making hanafuda; traditional Japanese playing cards. They ventured into various other businesses over the decades before eventually becoming the global video game giant we know today!
To make this trip even more special, as it’s the 40th anniversary of Super Mario, I have a limited edition ticket as a permanent memento of my visit! Talk about a core memory unlocked!

From scenic train views to a spiritual mountain hike, this day in northern Kyoto was perfection! The Eizan Railway ride itself felt like an attraction, winding through lush forests with views that were pure magic. Didn’t get to film the famous “Maple Tunnel” due to standing on the train (filming one handed is difficult haha) but the memory is burned in my mind!
Arriving at Kibuneguchi, the adventure continued with the beautiful (and yes, long!) climb through the forest to the three Kifune Shrines. This isn’t just any shrine, either; it’s renowned as one of Japan’s most potent “power spots”! The name Kifune was historically written with characters meaning “the root of energy being born,” signifying a place where the Earth’s vital energy is generated and surges forth.
The shrine is dedicated to Takaokami-no-Kami, the powerful deity of water and rain. So, when the heavy rain began to fall during my visit, it felt like a direct and powerful blessing from the god himself! It added an incredibly authentic, serene, and moody atmosphere to the ancient grounds. Every red lantern and mountain stream was worth the walk, breathing in the fresh, ancient energy. Highly recommend this entire journey to recharge your soul!
