I struggle making videos. I like being behind the camera because that’s where I’m comfortable. But it’s time to put myself where I encourage countless others to go and step out of the box. So welcome to the person behind the camera. My name is Justin Piccari, and I’m a photographer.

I’m so thrilled to have won third in the boudoir+nude category at @myiconawards . So to share the win, I wanted to get a hero shot of the beautiful trophies! I couldn’t have captured this shot without my new @geekoto GEEK-MOD SQ36 to help create my rim light. I LOVE the one-click setup with no center post (perfect for mounting gels). Swipe to check out my behind-the-scenes setup to capture these beauties!

I need some new fashion shoots. I find relationships with designers and stylists to be the trickiest part of my job when it’s just about trying to make art for art’s sake, so instead I’m just going to start making alternative stuff and see what happens. Be prepared for weirdness. (Greatful to @gelarehdesigns for working with me for this set though, such amazing pieces)

I’m so lucky to do what I do. I love the adventures and stories that are part of the art I love to make. I had to make a post for World Photography Day and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate. I couldn’t tag everyone that’s been a part of my growth, but I’m so damn grateful to every single person who’s been there along the way. Thank you for making my art something special.

So thrilled to have won the First place in Class in the @iiccomp . Grateful to all the judges for the amazing feedback, and I’m withholding sharing the image because it will likely be entered into another upcoming competition with the critiqued changes. Being able to constantly improve what I do is why I love competing. The awards are just a wonderful side effect. The education itself is the reward.

What an amazing time at @adorama teaching some of my favorite lighting techniques with just ONE light. Thank you to everyone that tuned in LIVE and is watching it on replay (Link in my Bio) I had the incredible @ericalynnnyc in frame and the always above-and-beyond @lastxwitness and @theresaraffetto making sure it all went smoothly. Thank you to @flashpointlighting for sponsoring the demo! I wanted to share some SOOC shots from the demo. I’ve been getting into the Creative Styles in my @sonyalpha a7RV lately and I love the amazing contrasty results. And I was so stoked to have my favorite tool the VFlat from @vflatworld on set for some great effects. I’m so glad to get to share what I’ve learned with hungry photographers, it was such a blast!
